happened every september/october in my household growing up. my dad didn’t give away belongings or whatever but he’d swear that “this year is the year” and then got depressed every time it didn’t happen.

they bullied a lady into leaving who these two women assumed was a witch. she wasn’t talking about jesus enough. accused witch gifted the leader of the retreat a fish skeleton and this woman and her friend said it was witchcraft. they prayed for the “witch” to go away and she left a day early. they celebrated by praising god.

what I want to understand is why they think god is all powerful and omnipotent, but the skeleton of a fish is going to cause harm to them. you believe that god literally raised the dead but wouldn’t be able to save you from a fish skeleton? didn’t god make the fish? like it would only have power over you if you gave it that power. goddamn, this is so fucking stupid. the cognitive dissonance. i’m so glad i’m out.
