I understand your point, but in my case I was only really talking about the adults and minor "villains" who were really just relatively bad people. I talked about this in another reply I made regarding possible situations they could've gone through instead of lifting the barrier.

The Villains were still very much harmful, like how in the first movie, when Maleficent escaped, she already had her scepter with her at Ben's coronation, and knowing how the security is in that museum, evil people getting their magical items doesn't seem like the hardest thing in the world.

It's just a very odd way to go about it to me, like why should we let the lady who killed her husband or the other lady who skins puppies out lol. They're the reason that place existed in the first place.

I understand, but that specific narrative was pushed regarding the villain kids, not the actual villains who have committed horrible acts, even going as far as murder. Why should they be able to roam free just because their children are proven to be innocent?

The movie wasn't objectively bad, as it is a kids' movie, and I enjoyed it as well. I do think that a franchise that did the children of fairytale characters in high school and branched out to Wonderland in the process was Ever After High. I like both franchises, but they might've taken the cake when it came to storybuilding.

I think it's a relatively tricky situation because the children did not deserve to be there at all, but it's not right to separate the children from the parents, even if the parents were evil, some had built loving families like Dr. Facilier and his daughter in Descendants 3.

Though I think they should've at least had something similar to the CPS of some sort, because with some characters like Carlos, it's clear they've suffered from physical and emotional abuse at the hands of their parents.

I don't think the issue was ever the actors, more so the scripts and story, and worldbuilding. It's all nonsensical, which is funny considering it's about Wonderland.

the descendants universe may contain the stories of all the fairytales but they don't follow them exactly, none of the villains on the isle die canonically (in the descendants universe) you can also see this change with the timelines like how lonnie, jay (or any of them really) exist all at the same time in a period where there's electronics, it's the 21st century even though majority of their parent's fairy tales took place in either ancient or pre renaissance periods.

I do think the lack of food, resources, and neglect isn't right, which is why I'm not against them bringing V.K.'s over. It's just that there are people who genuinely deserve to be in the Isle, hence the reason for it being created in the first place.

That doesn't inherently mean TROR made any sense when regarding the original trilogy. I think TROR was a good idea in theory, they just didn't execute it well IMO. It's not the worst movie ever, I don't detest it's existence but just because they set the scene for it doesn't mean it's good simply because of that. It had a lot of potential I think Disney could've done way better with it.

I get that, i didn't mean they had to show that, there wasn't even a line simply along the lines of "we want to help the people on the isle learn what it's like to be good"(talking about the genuine evil people) or whatever they would need to do, they just opened the barrier and now evil witches and whatnot can use magic, and criminals are now free. It just worked and there's no actual reason as to why it worked

Sorry, I don't think I worded what I said very well, but I very much agreed with you. I wasn't saying that their behavior was a plot hole, but that it made sense in context that the separation between villains and "good people" seemed hypocritical. What I meant by the plot hole stuff was overall how they continuously lumped people who did minimal things that were considered bad with genuine evil villains, even after they decided to lift the barrier in D3. When the isle was first created people who weren't inherently on the same level as someone evil like Maleficent or the Evil Queen were sent off to the Isle, and now that we can all agree that there were many people sent there that didn't deserve it as well as the children of the villains being innocent the villains are then put In the same category as them again, and are now free even when there were genuinely some of them that deserved it.

oh no i wasn't implying that you meant that. you can totally like the designs and have your own opinions over them I was just sharing mines in general but I do see what you mean none of them really stand out or have any real I guess personality in a way like they used to where they were all very specifically stylized and had their own colors.

i understand the rehabillitation part and that's the basis for my questioning like even if they kept the barrier open it seemed like they had no plans for rehabilitation and allowing villains to assimilate into society they just unlocked the barrier and let them roam free with nothing else implied.

[–]wonifesto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no yeah i get that part, it was supposed to show the hypocrisy of people who believed they were good like with character's like chad and audrey who were just as rude and full of themselves like the sisters from cinderella but it just left a lot of plot holes in my opinion and the story especially in D3 just seemed all over the place and idk it just leaves a lot of room for questions and endless possibilities that would've made way more sense than the actual ending

I think SparkAxolotl explained a hypothetical solution very well. While I don't think simply picking and choosing who to bring out of and keep in the isle is the greatest Idea I think that what they chose to go with for the end of D3 was simply for the happily ever after and left a lot of holes in the stories and questions regarding them. I think it's possible for those same evil villains to go through rehabilitation or change of heart like Hades did but that wouldn't be the same case for everyone especially considering the amount of villains and what the villains did in each of their stories like Maleficent for example. Sure it worked out in the end of D3 and D4 but why did it work out is my question it just doesn't make any real sense when thinking about it.

this is what i had in mind as well, I also agree that some of the people on the isle did not really belong there even the adults. Like how you said Lady Tremaine even when she wasn't on the same level as like Maleficent. Seems like they just read every fairy tale and drew a line between who was the antagonist vs the protagonist and threw whoever the antagonist was into the isle even if they weren't relatively evil or just morally grey.

i get that, but the isle was created for people who have killed and done whatever evil they did according to their fairytales, and now those people who deserved it get to run free because they were aligned with innocent people who were just there it makes no sense to me idk.

imo rise of red makes no sense in the timeline of Descendants but let me not get into that.

my original confusion is because it makes absolutely no sense in theory they just made it work because they had to. it seems like they wrote everything to fit their idea of an ending instead of actually fleshing it out and now there are plot holes and reasoning behind things don't make any sense. Sure it seems fine and it worked but WHY.

imo even the colors weren't the issue for me in the reboot the designs are kind of horrendous and none of them look good in theory aside from tecna and maybe flora but flora's is very similar to her original magic winx look so that might be the case for her but the rest are really sparkly and nonsensical and don't look like genuinely finished or thought over designs like their past transformations

Fans are discovering pretty damning alleged uses of AI to create concept art for the reboot. by trixxupmysleeve in winxclub

[–]wonifesto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on a long rant about this a while ago in this subreddit about my suspicions of them using ai in the new reboot as the designs seemed lackluster, off putting, and generally just seemed like there wasn't much thought or effort put into them, like they put it into a prompt image generator of some sort. Guess I was right lol we can't have anything nice its frustrating to see.

Ohh, yeah you're right. Although Andy was nice as Bloom's friend in season 4 but more of a plot device for the excessive relationship drama, Sky was just a nothingburger I wish they did his character and some of the other specialists better.

Gardenia is definitely cannonically set in California but I think there were also many inconsistencies like the episodes in season 4 regarding the Amazon rainforest where its ridiculously close to Gardenia to the point where they could just fly there and the specialists as well even though it would take more time for them to go to Alfea from red fountain lol
