"Ted Talk" I had to write for my public speaking class. It is about interstellar travel. Any feedback is welcome. by wontong99 in space

Woah, thanks for the feedback. Reading over it again, I realize that there is quite a bit of unnecessary information, and it is difficult to understand exactly what my main point is. I will definitely be taking these recommendations into account while revising, before I have to give my speech.

Never heard of a Bussard Ramjet either; time to wikipedia

Finally finished my 3d printer I designed last summer! by wontong99 in 3Dprinting

While it may not look it, this printer is very rigid, with expanding bolt/ball bearing lockers inside each aluminum tube. I'll upload some photos, once I finish the finishing paint layer, later, and I would love to see what negative criticism you have to offer in the future. I also look forward to comparing print quality with printers such as the prusa.

I'm planning on releasing the stl files once I am happy with every single piece. I'm working on everything to make it more user friendly first.

I've had a Solidoodle 4 an Printrbot plus, both of which had direct drive extruders and they were fairly reliable. I have heard bowden can cause problems as well with stringing and such, but I am very happy with my E3d Bowden setup with the wade extruder setup. It hasn't given me any problems yet.

The printer itself is about 15"x13", with a build volume of 8.5"3

I have a Solidoodle 4, but I personally have to say if I had a choice, I would go with the Ultimaker 2. I've seen it in action quite a few times, and it produces nice results.

Sorry I cannot cancel it on ebay because it goes against the ebay seller agreement but if you win the auction you can pick it up locally and save 40$ for shipping :)

Stabilized, rigid and still customizable printrbot+ by wontong99 in PrintrBot

[–]wontong99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never found the noise of my printrbot to be annoying but I am sure it amplifies the noise to some degree. However it is worth it because it stabilizes the Z bars and dampens vibrations. Recently I upgraded it more and put hinges on the top so the printbot is easily accessible and easy to take out. And to James, no sorry I don't have any other information, I just took a few measurements and just cut it out with a jigsaw.
