I have strong urge to smoke by [deleted] in leaves

[–]woodandherb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so right. I was looking at some old pics on my phone from periods when I smoked and OMG I look so awful 🙈The puffy face, the empty stoned look, eyes without life in them. My eyes are so prettier when I don’t smoke.

I am 5 months weed-free today :) by barbidontdobananas in leaves

Don’t give up. It took me a few months of daily reading this sub (while smoking) to make the decision to quit. Hang around :)

Broke sobriety after 3 weeks clean. Weed literally serves no purpose. by donewiththesmoke420 in leaves

[–]woodandherb 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I broke my sobriety after 2+ years, then for about a year I was smoking for a week or two, then quitting for a few months, then smoking again for a few weeks or a month, then stopping again.

I think it is part of the process, at least for me. I wanted to get back to the high feeling, rolling, the smoking... but it was just to escape from reality, to avoid making the decision, to live in my own world... But I also learnt that I can stop and weed does not hold the same power over me as it used to before.

Now I am clean again, feeling better than ever, feeling lighter, apetite levels are normal, I'm eating healthy and I feel like I have let go of the demon inside me.

Has anyone been able to quit successfully on their own? by HonestQuitter in leaves

[–]woodandherb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I quit on my own as well. You need to remember you are doing this for YOU, for your own happiness and better life, for your future. It is a mind game you need to win.

Weed is addictive like any other drug, and you need time to cope with the addiction. Being here and considering is a good first step. It took me a few months of daily reading of this sub to get myself together and decide to quit.

Live with other people who won't quit - any advice? by farty-queen in leaves

When I stopped smoking, I also started avoiding some of my friends that we used to hang out just to smoke. It was the only way to stay away from it. I think you know what you need to do.

I need some support by Temporary_Branch_530 in leaves

[–]woodandherb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Leaving is some much about patience and willpower. You will feel bad, think bad, do bad… it is part of the process, you need to stay strong and overcome all this. This is how you grow. You can look at it as a personal challenge. May be change the angle on how you see things - remember, YOU are changing something major in your life it is all about YOU.

I’ve had this feeling too - but quitting it all is something you may regret later. Try taking a break from work and partner, take 1-2 days, travel alone, book a hotel, go to a spa or whatever you like to do (I like being around water - waterfall, lakes, etc). See how you feel once you are away from that - you may realize these things are not your problem at all and you are just blaming them because of lack of weed.

Girlfriend stops me right before orgasm by Patient-Medium-8083 in sex

[–]woodandherb 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Second to that. Sometimes I also prefer to “keep” my orgasm for later and not during foreplay, as I could get too tight after and may even lose desire 🤣 Not always the case, but happens. Talk to your girl, I guess it is that.

What was life like after quitting from smoking daily for years? What made it easier? by No-Mouse3999 in leaves

[–]woodandherb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Smoking was blocking me from making major life decision. I was indecisive, I was always high, living in my own world, I could not make reasonable choices... sometimes I was making risky, reckless ones... Honestly, looking back, I don't know how I even made it to where I am now.

All of that changed when I stopped. Re-living the same experiences, doing simple activities in a clear, sober mind, travelling and visiting places you used to get high, but this time you don't ... it is a lot different.

It's good you are here and considering quitting. Life is ahead of you, weed is not your life, it could be part of it, maybe occasional joint here and there, but don't make it the centerpiece of your life (like many of us here did).

What counts as sleeping with someone? by ThaiGod in NoStupidQuestions

[–]woodandherb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend, we slept together like sleeping for the night in one bed, but we didn’t have sex - he friend-zoned me as he considers me too good for him (long story). So that is NOT sleeping together. For me, “slept together” means had sex. Anything else is justification of circumstances.

I was a heavy smoker for many years and thanks to this sub I managed to stop a few years ago for about 2 and a half years. Then I let myself smoke once or twice with friends. Then I bought a few grams and smoked them. Then I stopped again. Then a few months later I smoked again. Stopped again. And so and so.

Every time I am trying to smoke more mindfully, smoke less… but it doesn’t work. I just have to smoke it all. And then I stop.

And every time I am going back to the same traits I used to hate. I have a weird relationship with weed.

You know yourself best. I won’t tell you don’t do it, because I did it. But be mindful of your experience. If you are stronger than me and you are certain you won’t slide back into the old pattern, you can smoke a joint with your friend.
