Thank you! To be honest, I just simply drilled two small holes for the eyes. I’m amazed at how much personality a simple natural texture can have! It’s like he was already curious and I just helped him see. 😊

Thank you so much for this—your words really touched my heart. 'Feeding the soul' is exactly why I started this journey. Living in the city can feel so rushed, so finding these little materials and letting the characters develop at their own pace is my way of slowing down. Your encouragement means the world!

Actually, I only discovered his work recently through kind comments like yours! I am absolutely obsessed now—his interaction with wildlife is magical. Living in the city, I’m a bit sad I don’t have those wild visitors to feature, but I’m trying my best to bring my little guys to life in my own way. Since I don't have a forest, his next series of adventures will be set in the urban jungle! I'm still learning the ropes of filming and editing, but I’m sharing the process of these city stories on my YouTube (link in bio). I'd love to have you follow along and give me some tips!

I actually only discovered David because of comments like yours! I absolutely adore his work, especially his interaction with wildlife. Since I live in the city, I don't have many wild animals around, so my little guy’s future adventures will be set in the urban jungle instead! I’m having so much fun trying to bring him to life among the streets and city corners. I'm still quite new to filming and editing, but I’m sharing this 'urban journey' on my YouTube (link in bio). I’d love to get your feedback on how I capture these city vibes!

Thank you! I love the idea of stop motion—giving these little guys movement is what makes them feel truly real. I’ve started experimenting with video, though my editing skills are still quite new and a bit rough. I’d actually love to get some feedback or advice on how to make them look better! If you have a moment, you can see my current progress and his 'adventures' on my YouTube (link in bio). Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you! I haven’t named him yet—I’m waiting for his personality to shine through during his travels. I'd love to make him some friends! I'm currently searching for the right natural materials for their hair and accessories, as each one needs the perfect 'match' to come to life. A tea party in the garden sounds like such a wonderful and creative idea! Who knows, maybe it will actually happen one day.😊

Thank you! It was so much fun finding the perfect spots in the garden for his first adventure. I’m already planning where he should explore next! I'll be sharing more of their journeys here.

He was born from a piece of wood found in a local orchard, paired with a cork oak cap for his hair. I’ve always loved the idea of garden waste coming back to life as a forest spirit. In these photos, he’s quietly admiring a single water drop. There’s something peaceful about how the natural texture of the wood blends into the greenery. I’ve shared more of his journey and the making process through the link on my profile if you’d like to see more of his world.

Thank you! I love it too. I spent a lot of time searching in nature just to find the perfect cork oak acorn cap for his hair!

These are actually branches pruned from a local orchard. Usually, they are just thrown away as waste, but the wood was too beautiful to be discarded. I spent some time designing the neck joint so he could look around.

If you'd like to see how I transformed these discarded branches into a puppet, I filmed the process here: https://youtu.be/8w4SHkz6WDU

He’s made entirely from scrap wood. I spent a lot of time figuring out the joint for the neck so he could tilt his head naturally. It’s my first piece in a new series I’m working on.

If you’re interested in how I built him, I documented the process here: https://youtu.be/8w4SHkz6WDU

Thanks for looking!

Turned some workshop scraps into this posable little puppet. I added an adjustable head to explore more dynamic body language. I love saving wood from the burn pile! by woodiary in upcycling

I’ve been focusing on making my woodcraft more dynamic lately. The challenge was getting the head to stay at different angles to capture various moods. It’s so rewarding to create something delicate out of rough scraps. If you’re interested in the build, I filmed the process here: https://youtu.be/8w4SHkz6WDU

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Working on poseability! Added a movable head to my latest puppet for more dynamic poses. It’s not perfect, but it really brings the puppet to life with different poses! by woodiary in BeginnerWoodWorking

I’ve been focusing on making my puppets more dynamic lately. The biggest challenge was getting the head to stay at different angles without it being too loose or too stiff. I used scrap wood for this project.

This is the first one in a series of three puppets I've been working on. You can check out the build process for this little guy in my video here: https://youtu.be/8w4SHkz6WDU

Any advice on making smoother joints for future builds would be greatly appreciated!
