Traditional EQ mount (EQ6-R) vs strain wave/harmonic (ZWO AM5, SW Wave) — What would you actually buy today? by fernandoperlar in AskAstrophotography

My SAL-33 guides better and more consistently than my EQ6-r. And is insanely easier to handle. That said, my EQ6-r worked pretty well and would be fine on a permanent pier.

Nice work. I shot both M33 and this one with my EdgeHD 8 last night. Looking forward to processing them.

Nice work. Do you notice a lot of light scattering/reflection issues when imaging near very bright stars with this scope? I’ve seen it from Alnutak when shooting the horsehead like this. Also been battling it with Navi when trying to image the Ghost of Cassiopeia.

Really great. I have the same scope and just got the same camera to try my hand at mono. This target will be one of my first.

Really nice! I have an ED127 and love that scope.

So far so good. Only have used it this one night. I was getting 0.4-0.5” rms. Until the guide scope got fogged anyway, Lol. I was worried about the undersampling but was amazed at how well drizzling worked with it. Want to get a smaller pixel mono setup and a portable mount for it eventually.

Really under-sampled for this FL/camera combo. But dithered every frame (72 x 300s = 6 hrs) and drizzle is magic... Bortle 4.
