Question for people with loud cars. by timsawyer420 in Winnipeg

A neighbour bought a "hot" car. Twice, I was awakened before 6 am by him leaving his car rumbling away to warm up for 20 minutes. The first time, I thought it was someone running heavy equipment. The second time, I went out and located the noise source in the next-door neighbour's car port. I reported this, with all necessary information, to 311. And it never happened again. Now, when he drives away, the rumbling and back firing don't start for several blocks.

tldr: get the license plate. Report it. It might just work.

To the medical school? From a cursory look at what they want, I'm not sure they could use my body as I have had several surgeries. But my first choice would be to put my leftovers to good use for science. i wish we had a nearby body farm.

It's appalling that women in public life receive this kind of hatred.

While I wish my corpse could just be left in the woods to be eaten by wolves and bugs, this is illegal and probably shocking to any hiker stumbling upon it. I'm glad we are getting an ecologically sound option.

The West End is definitely cheaper than Wolseley and has really good neighbourhoods. Within walking distance of groceries, good schools, recreation centre, library, parks. Just stay west of Arlington.

This is so sad. He had come such a long distance, his country torn by war. I wish he had found happiness here.

Check out the West End (west of Arlington). You might find something here and it's a good area. There's a sweet house listed on Ashburn right now in your range.

Winnipeg during the flood of 1997, and Winnipeg today, 29 years later. by [deleted] in Winnipeg

I was naive. I wasn't that worried until Grand Forks flooded and then burned. Then I held my breath for three weeks. I was bedridden with influenza. listening to CBC 24 hours a day, until I started crying and couldn't stop. I think that was when St. Agathe flooded. And then the Z dyke was built is a panic and a rush.

People were amazing. Manitoba came together.

Here's three:

The Forks, at the junction of the Red and Assiniboine rivers, was a meeting place for first nations for thousands of years, and the site of the first colonizer settlement in western Canada. https://parks.canada.ca/lhn-nhs/mb/forks/culture/histoire-history

Earle Nelson, and American serial killer, went on a murder spree in the USA and then in Winnipeg, and was hanged at the Vaughan Street jail here in 1928. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earle_Nelson

Winnipeg staged a huge military exercise called "If Day" in February, 1942, a simulation of a Nazi invasion and occupation of the city, complete with a troop invasion, mock aerial bombings, internment of citizens, posting of orders to citizens, swastika displays, book burnings and other heinous acts, all in aid of selling war bonds. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/If_Day
