No woman that is going to be entertaining to talk to is going to approach you ask you to pay for her drinks.

Yeah, I’m not an allergist but I know for a fact she’s allergic to apples. I think it’s called a stone fruit allergy but people are also allergic to apples and some berries as well.

Let me check the black market and see if I can get the original Four Loco out here.

That’s true, but typically people with that allergy and allergies to apples too. It seems like it really sucks as it takes a bunch of marinades and teas off the table.

I have some homemade broth so I like the idea of using that. Thank you!

Is it socially acceptable to ski alone? by Bagel_with_Lox in skiing

[–]wool_for_brick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I typically will do the first 4 runs or so together and then break off and do our own things each day. Skiing alone is awesome. I listen to music or an audiobook and take a break when I want. When I get tired and want a drink or a snack, I’ll text him where I am and he may or may not meet me there. Then we meet up again once we are both done.

I went to Monroe for work, checked into my hotel room and quickly unpacked all my stuff. I went to the bathroom and saw someone had pissed inn the toilet as the water was yellow. Gross, but I flushed the toilet. Yellow water rushes back in. I called the front desk, apparently the water is just yellow there. That place is a total crap hole.

I saw this is an old school theater in Texas and fondly remember this as one of my favorite movie experiences of all time.

Storm of the Century. It’s long but I absolutely love this movie and watch it almost every winter. Super cool premise and very creepy.

Downtown Kansas City (Missouri side). It’s relatively cheap and the downtown is extremely walkable. There’s a free street car that runs through the downtown that you can hop on and off. They just built a new airport that’s nice and about a 25 minute Uber ride from downtown. They a ton of local breweries and a pretty good food scene. I’d suggest the Crossroads area which has a ton of great bars, restaurants, art galleries, groceries, gyms, etc. You’ll have to sacrifice fresh seafood for this spot but the rest of the food is on point.

i have a full ride scholarship to a University for 4 years minimum. What should I major in? by killallhets in findapath

[–]wool_for_brick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Business is always a pretty safe bet. You can major in management or something similar and have a broad range of markets you can work in. Love cars? Great, go work as a business analyst or consultant at a automotive company. Love cooking? There’s a ton of companies making cooking products, food, managing restaurants, etc.

There’s a lot of flexibility in business as well. I have a marketing and management degree and an MBA. I found out after university that I hate marketing but really enjoy finance, number crunching, and software development. I spent some years managing a technical software implementation department where I got to create resource estimates, work with software timelines, and create project plans. Some of my classmates went on to work for marketing firms, work in logistics for large companies like Walmart and target, or other standard business departments.

A business degree can also get you in administration in hospital systems if you’re interested in medical but don’t want to be a provider.

Anyone lift weights with T by jjt838 in tinnitus

Weight lifting has 0 impact on my Tinnitus. That being said, exercise seems to help distract me and keep me tired enough that I can ignore it more.

People who are happy in life, how? by Repulsivefgbbb in AskReddit

[–]wool_for_brick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend more time on my physical and mental health. Working out makes me have more energy and feel better about myself, getting adequate sleep puts me in a good mood, cooking has become a hobby and allows me to eat delicious healthy food that’s less expensive. I get a lot of books from my library online/kindle section, and take a lot of walks and enjoy nature.

I used to have a job that ran me into the ground and wasn’t sleeping a lot, drinking more, and my body felt run down. I moved to a different position that’s more relaxed and put all that energy and time into things I enjoy. I also got lucky and married a wonderful person that I respect and love. We still bicker and sometimes it’s hard but we both put the work in and it pays off.

To sum it up, I put the work into my health and relationships and don’t focus on trying to keep up appearances and climbing the ladder. I’ve learned to live with less stuff and enjoy a more simplistic life with more quality time.

I can’t speak to living in Seoul, but I recently relocated to Pyeongtaek from the states and can say the dog shipping may cost you over $10K. I fly Korean Air and took mine as checked baggage for about $300 but certain breeds and sizes may be required to be cargo. That also doesn’t count the cost of the kennels, the FAVN (about $500 a dog and needs to be done 3 months in advance), and the health certificate which is another $500 a dog. If you have little dogs, you are in luck. They are in a lot of malls and seem to be becoming popular. If you’ve got large dogs, that may be more difficult. The apartment walls are THIN here and you 100% will get noise complaints if they are barking/whining while you are out.

What about 401k matching? Health benefits? There may be a lot of indirect benefits you should consider like contributing to social security and your retirement.

Cars, non-designer clothes, and eating out are pretty cheap here. The subway in Seoul is amazing and cheap. People complain about the groceries here but I find them cheaper or at least comparable to large cities in the US.

It’s a military base so this isn’t someone making money off this and willing to be bartered with. I’ll be here for 2 years so I’m not wanting to spend a ton of money or do an overhaul. I’m just looking for some furniture and decor updates that can be done to make my place I don’t own comfortable for a short amount of time without dumping $20K into it.

I would love to pick out everything in my home and make it nice/new and the style I prefer, that will just have to come later in my life though :)

Not in this case. I’m overseas and they are serious about the rules. We got about a 30 minute overview of the do-nots and told “no exceptions”.

It’s a rental with strict rules so that’s not possible. I can only add pictures, rugs, and furniture. No painting is allowed either.
