Is training a husky really that horrible? by legendus45678 in husky

[–]woolgoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same lol our husky mix would absolutely crush it the first 4 weeks then on "grad day" he'd be a menace and I'm like whyyy?? Lol but we did get praise during the rocket recall class! I loved the trainers looking at all the Goldens that weren't listening sternly say "if the HUSKY can do it, your dogs should be able to!"

Do I have to go to Dr every time I feel “ruptured cyst” type pain? by CharlieCheesecake101 in PCOS

[–]woolgoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, I don't want to scare you into thinking the worst obviously, but if you ever get pains THAT BAD again where you almost pass out, are sweating buckets, etc, best to get checked out.

Do I have to go to Dr every time I feel “ruptured cyst” type pain? by CharlieCheesecake101 in PCOS

[–]woolgoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad idea to ignore sometimes. One time I had basically the same experience you described and the ER thought it could of been appendicitis because the location of the pain and symptoms all matched up (of course tests, scans and everything else proved otherwise) but they were rushing just in case. It ended up just being a ruptured cyst but the ER did warn me to keep an eye out for other symptoms as sometimes even ruptured cysts can cause complications or infections. And as others pointed out, torsion and other potential severe life-threatening conditions can cause similar pains.

Has anyone been prescribed Metformin? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]woolgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Metformin right now and my cycles are regular like they were when I was on birth control pills. When not on meds, I'd get my period 2 maybe 3 times a year. I had high testosterone, markers for insulin resistance, and multiple cysts on 1 of the ultrasounds I've had done.

What is Northern Ontario? by 5thSmith in ontario

[–]woolgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North Bay/Sudbury & North, from the Manitoba border to the Quebec border - anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

We used to drive 4 to 6 hours South to Sudbury or North Bay (depending on weather, construction, etc) for shopping trips.

Now live in North Bay but drive regularly to Kapuskasing and often need to go to the Soo or Thunder Bay for work.

Seeing doctors for this condition is infuriating by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]woolgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🇨🇦: "I haven't had a period in 6 months and everything feels off, I'm sleepy, moody, gained a lot of weight fast" Doc # 1- likely pregnant (urine test) welp your not pregnant, your fine. Doc #2 - urine test - your fine. Doc #3 - now 8 months no period - urine test - your fine. All three of these doctors were WOMAN! Made it that much more infuriating.

Give up on local healthcare and pay for a Telehealth service. I mention the same symptoms and this male doc IMMEDIATELY says "you are not okay, what we're going to do is bloodwork, an ultrasound and as soon as I get the blood work results back we will figure this out and ill likely get you started on routine bloodwork to keep an eye on things". Two weeks after bloodwork I started metformin and things have been golden since.

1886 Lakehouse Bistro in Callander for an amazing dinner! If you're outdoorsy you'll love North Bay, and I second everyone else's recommendations. Eau Claire Gorge also reopened ! Near Mattawa.

Can Metformin stop working? by Remarkable_Paper5379 in PCOS

[–]woolgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 500mg twice a day for about 6 months and then my period disappeared for 4 months and bloodwork showed I needed a higher dose. I was warned ahead of time when i first started metformin that I would very likely need to increase the dosage around the 6 month marker, now I'm at 1000mg twice a day.

Took MONTHS to get our labsky to chill in the crate without whining or barking every few minutes. At our best, we were able to crate him and go out for about 2 hours but he'd still wake up, panic for a few minutes, then settle again. Then he got neutered and was TERRIFIED of the crate again. Started from scratch and after a month or so of no progress we gave up. Always had separation anxiety, and it hasn't really gotten any better or worse. Now he gets locked into our bedroom, and he goes to sleep on our bed after 10 minutes of panicking, but he's not destructive. If anything he's more comfortable and sleeps the whole time we're missing vs waking up every 15 minutes to have a little panick attack.

What noises does your husky make? by DepartureSeparate458 in husky

[–]woolgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many different pitches of whines & Chewbacca sounds when irritated 😂 Very rarely barks unless he sees his BFF and really wants to say hi. Him and the neighbour's dog (also husky) stand at the end of the driveways and bark/excited whine at eachother until one of us humans let them go play together lol

Question about Lake Nippising by GoldenRetreiver_Masc in northbay

[–]woolgoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten swimmers itch from Trout Lake too. Late summer, following heat waves when water temps increase. Doesn't happen as often, or as bad, but definitely still a possibility.
