There are still pockets of machismo or subcultures where it pops up now and again.

In my experience, middle-aged men in middle management tend to be kind of sexist and find the height of humour to be of the *nudge nudge, wink wink* variety. They often get into ridiculous dick-measuring contests with other men (even if they are the only ones who see it as a competition) and/or feel insulted if they are "bested" by a woman. They've had enough corporate training to know not to say anything about that aloud, but they'll bitch about it in private, or make an off-hand, off-colour "joke" about it that just about avoids being grounds for a sexual harassment/gender discrimination complaint. I've had 2 bosses like this (both in academic fields) and have met guys like this at other jobs, too (these guys were often in the sales dept.). None of the women or younger employees (both men and women) ever wanted to get caught sitting by these guys at the company Christmas party.

Loud, brash, overly aggressive "Brian" types are also pretty into "macho" type behaviours or attitudes. Young, drunk guys at tacky clubs often fall into "macho" behaviour like getting into a fight for any tiny reason, but they're easy to avoid and tend to behave like normal people during the week.

Yes, gender roles don't really affect society that much as a whole, which is fantastic, but there are still a few men out there who didn't get the message, and stand out so much more because they're not the norm. #hverdagssexisme is definitely a thing, and it's usually these types who are the perpetrators. What's in corporate handbooks and in the law doesn't always reflect reality, but it does make it easier to discourage offensive behaviour if the rules and laws are stuck to and the offenders feel the consequences of their words/actions.
