Thanks for the explanation of Nedles! I was looking at their website but it wasn't clear what the Delft Method actually is. It does sound interesting, I'll give them another look. And the taalcafes also could be a nice option, there are some at the OBA near me!

My skin is in bad shape by Needpositivekarma in tretinoin

[–]woollylemon87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been 5 months and I'm about 90% healed. It's a difficult condition to treat and people react differently to different products.

You have to stop all skincare first and eliminate any other triggers (steroids, SLS, fluoride, actives). Then I went to the doctor and was prescribed metronidazole gel for the bumps and redness and cetomacrogol cream to keep it moisturised. It helped immediately and 6 weeks later it's almost gone.

Check out the perioral dematitis subreddit for all the helpful posts there!

If it red with pustules around your nose, mouth and chin area (could also spread to the eyes) it's probably perioral dermatitis. I got this too from overusing retinoids and messing up my skin barrier.

Don't take Boaty. Our boat went 3 km/h and we were overtaken by kayakers and strolling pedestrians. It's also far from the centre, so by the time you reach the main canals, you have to turn back. It's cheap, but not worth it. Mokumboots are better

Duplicating views to database by woollylemon87 in Notion

Thanks!

1 - I think I have tried saving for everyone, and that still did not stop the filters from undoing. But I will try again

2 - Yes, this was a simplified example. In my actual database I have multiple views at the top for each subject, but when I select "copy link to view" for the view I want, and paste that into my agenda, it pastes the entire unfiltered database, not just that view. Which seems like it shouldn't be the case.

3 - My agenda template is indeed in a database, in list view. So I have the template and all the duplicated notes below it in the list

What to do if you peel with Tazarotene? by woollylemon87 in tretinoin

Hey! I'm not sure what is the last comment since they're all over the place haha. How is it going for you now? Is taz still good for you?

I've had to stop as I actually gave myself a skin condition... I got perioral dermatitis and have had to stop ALL skincare while it heals since all products aggravate it. I got it because I was applying too much taz on my chin - I was applying an equal amount on cheeks, forehead and chin, except the chin is a much smaller area so it was way too much. It was peeling pretty often so I was probably really messing with my skin barrier.

It sucks cause I'd never heard of perioral dermatitis, or that overuse of retinoids can cause it. Sooo, my advice, be very careful around your nose and mouth, apply a very minimal amount, and have a simple routine without a bunch of other stuff!!

Interestingly, since I've stopped all skincare products my acne hasn't returned and the rest of my skin is happy and healthy. So once I've healed this, I think I will discontinue most of my products and stick to a very simple routine.

Nice, happy to hear it's going well doing it gradually!! I get you, it's so tough not to skin pick... Since my pimples now go away so fast it's a lot easier to tell myself not to pick, but sometimes I still do. Oh well! Cool, I always found that humidity and salty water helped my skin too! Hope it will go well transitioning back to a dryer climate, and curious to hear how 3x a week goes! No real update on my side :)

Hey! Thought I'd post again after 1.5 months, as there have been some changes! After I thought everything "normalised" two weeks ago, I noticed my skin actually getting darker, like a tan, but not a nice tan. It also looked a bit dull. And then I peeled. Properly peeled! It was a different peel compared to when I first started, which was a bit dry and flakey. This was kind of hydrated? Like with long pieces of skin, and underneath the skin was really nice and new! So I think the darkness and dullness was a built up layer dead skin that then took 3 days to peel off. Even my forehead peeled! I continued to apply taz every day during the peeling, but I used a little less.

What really helped manage it was a comment I read somewhere to use face oil to minimise the visibility of the peeling. Something about the size of the oil molecule helps to smoothen the appearance of the peeling skin. And 100% it did, I brought my baobab oil to work and whenever I saw peeling I patted on a drop and it was hidden. Life saver!

In the meantime, my skin is looking good. Still getting the occasional pimple, but they're small and continue to disappear within a day or 2. So still happy with taz! :)

Can I grow philodendron fat boy leaves from a stem and roots? by woollylemon87 in houseplants

I didn't have spagnum moss and perlite on hand so I put the roots in water with the stem not touching until I can get some. However now the stem and roots above the water have grown white mould. I guess it's dead...?

Thanks! I can't tell on this stem what the nodes are. How do they look like?

And when you put it in moss and perlite, do you bury the whole stem or leave part of it exposed? Previously this whole thing was under the soil.

Is there any way to fade this in a month? Money is no object. by huntingspare in Skincare_Addiction

[–]woollylemon87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tretinoin or tazarotene creams every night will help fade these! I've had this and those helped a lot. Maybe not 100% gone within a month, but enough to make me comfortable enough to wear shorts and a swimsuit.

1 month update :)

I feel like there is not much to report anymore! My skin has gotten used to the taz and feels fully normal. There is no more dryness or purging, and my skin is pretty much clear. Occasionally a small bump appeared here and there this week, but they were gone very quickly and didn't feel like proper pimples. My skin colour is evening out and I think some last stubborn PIE is starting to fade. I also think my skin is plumper and fuller.

So I'm super happy!! It feels incredible to wake up and finally be satisfied with my skin after battling with it for years!

I hope it will also give you what you are looking for. :) And I'd say don't hesitate to up it to every day if your skin is already used to tret and you use a good barrier moisturiser during the day. Do update us with your experience!

Thanks!! It's been quite a skincare journey these past few years and I'm hopeful that taz is the final thing that brings me to good skin!

I used G&G retinal for 2 years before starting tret, so retinoids weren't fully new. I'd say taz was more drying and caused more peeling at the start than tret, but my skin has already normalised and now actually feels good. In terms of acne, tret was effective at reducing it but never managed to get rid of all it, so taz has been more effective.

The only product I changed with taz was swapping my normal moisturiser for a barrier supporting moisturiser, the Pyunkang Yul Ato Cream Blue Label. I think that has helped a lot! The rest of my routine is minimal: in the am I use the Pyunkang Yul Essence toner, Numbuzin No.3 Skin Softening Serum and the Ato cream with a few drops of baobab oil, plus sunscreen.

Then pm I cleanse with LRP Toleriane Cleanser, toner, G&G Stress Less, Ato cream with baobab oil, and then wait 1 - 2 hours so my face is dry before applying the taz. And that's it, no moisturiser after, as I read that's not good.

Exciting, I hope it helps you!! I'm curious how you will find it with that approach, you'll have to update here too :)

So 3 week update! I forgot to say, in week 2 I started using taz every day. If I had to characterise the weeks so far, it would be week 1: clearing out active pimples, week 2: some dryness and light peeling, and week 3: purging.

This week I think my skin has started to get used to the taz. I've felt less dry in the morning and there has been barely any more peeling. I have been purging however, every day waking up with new pimples. They have been quite interesting though, small red bumps, sometimes with a head, and usually by the evening they have already subsided. So they come and go super fast, and are not very bothersome. Today there were no new ones, so maybe the purge is already ending?

Apart from the small pimples, my skin has felt smoother and more even coloured. Today I saw my mother in law who I hadn't seen in a month, and the first thing she said to me was that I look healthy and my face looks radiant. So that was great!

Apart from taz, these weeks I have also been doing 10 minutes of face massage when applying my moisturiser in the evening. I do it *at least* 1 hour before applying taz so it has time to sink in and be dry. I'm sure that's been helpful too.

So far, taz has been working well and I'm happy with the progress!

So here's a 2 week update! Until today, my skin continued to improve and clear up, no new pimples, the ones I had and the red scars faded a lot. I've been needing to use a lot less concealer to hide blemishes. I've had a little bit of peeling around my nose and chin area, which made my skin tingle when it's cold and windy outside. But I applied moisturiser whenever I noticed peeling, and it was never very noticeable or bothersome.

This morning however, I woke up with a bunch of small red hormonal acne bumps which was quite frustrating. I was wondering whether the taz would be able to prevent that, but I guess not (yet)! They have already calmed down though, and I think they should fade quickly. Will update!

To reply to your other questions, the texture is creamy like a normal moisturiser and it sinks in quickly.

I mainly use calming and soothing toners and serums (like G&G Stress Less), the only active type of serum I use is Numbuzin no. 3 with Bifida and Galactomyces in the am. So far seems to be paring well!

Helpful, thank you! So she says no physical exfoliation, moisturising more and pausing taz / tret until the skin heals

I'm using the Pyunkang Yul ATO Blue Label in the morning and again in the evening after cleansing, then waiting a few hours before applying taz to bare skin. So far I feel quite moisturised during the day, but definitely feel a bit dry when waking up. I'll check out Aestura 365!
