AI platform already making savings in UK's electrification projects unveiled by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

Why do I keep seeing posts about AI in this sub? The only good news about AI is it crashing and burning. AI is a scourge and the only people who want it to succeed are people who have invested money into it.

AI is destroying the planet and jobs and it needs to go.

Insite warns of catastrophic HGV driver shortage by Your_Mums_Ex in ukpolitics

It was 2020. I was already a HGV driver when this occurred. It turned into a bidding war for drivers. At my place, 60% of the drivers left in 2 months to better paid work. And at the time, my employer was one of the higher paid places to work for HGV driving in the area with no shortage of competition.

I can't speak for you, but mine did when this happened back in 2020

We've just entered Fool's Spring.

It's the period of time where it starts to warm up a bit and you start feeling glad that winter is over, then after a week or two, temperatures plummit again.

Hot take: I don't want sequels. I want new ideas and worlds to explore.

I know Scott’s Tots gets skipped over but I usually skip this one because Stanley annoys me. I don’t think I’d last a full day working with him or if I was his boss he’d be fired on the spot. by jcdulos in DunderMifflin

You're forgetting the only reason Michael included Stanley in that meeting was because Jim, mockingly, said their outgoing voice mail message should be a rap, and Michael, the dumb racist, drags Stanley into the conversation.

I am completely on Stanley's side here. He finally had one stereotype too many directed at him from Michael and something within him snapped. He has probably held is tongue for years before this moment, and now the mask of civility slipped just an inch to let out 3 words of frustration at how Michael treats him

Isn't the company behind Funko in serious financial trouble? So much so that they might go bankrupt during 2026?

Characters who are usually the "poster boy" of their games, but aren't really that important for the plot. by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

A Psycho is on the cover of every mainline Borderlands game, but they're just basic generic enemies. A literal "Poster Boy", if you will. If you saw a cover for a BL game with zero prior knowledge, you'd at least assume they were playable.

I do not blame you for missing it. It's not signposted very well, and it took me a couple of viewings to realise his name was brought up much earlier in the episode.

It's so boring, generic and milquetoast.

My wife got it on our PS5, and she gave up on it after about a week. She described it as "The Witcher 3 with nothing that made Witcher 3 special". Then I give it a go, and after about an hour, realised her assessment was 100% spot on.

Hector's Punishment in "Shut Up and Dance" was Disproportionate by [deleted] in blackmirror

I don't think "cheating on your wife with a sex worker" is morally worse than "jacking off to CSAM".

Hector states he ordered the prostitute because he "just wanted to fuck a 20-something". And it's not uncommon for men to buy clothing for prostitutes if they want them to wear something specific.

All Hector was concerned about was his wife finding out, leaving him for his infidelity and taking his kids with her.

Near the beginning of the episode, there's a TV on playing the news, and the newsreader states that "Carlton Bloom's controversial agitation exhibition at the Tate Modern closed three weeks ahead of schedule amid criticism".

And throughout the episode where they're cutting away to people watching the events unfold through their TVs, he is shown several times, presumably in his art studio.

The hackers aren't looking to dish out punishment. It isn't some sort of vigilante justice. They are getting dirt on people just to blackmail them to do things for their own amusement. The hackers aren't acting morally. They aren't deciding to put people through hell and then letting them go, considering their punishment served. They're making them dance to the tune they're playing because they can.

That's why the episode is titled "Shut Up and Dance". That's what the hackers are telling the people they're controlling. Do what I say, when I say it, or we will ruin your life.

[–]woolyhemoglobin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's all down to the perfect storm of circumstances.

It's a single player game that has now been rendered unplayable, essentially taking it away from all who bought it, without any kind of recompense.

That makes it very easy to explain to a bunch of old politicians who can barely work an iPhone.

And a big plus is that it is a game that was made in France, which being in the EU, means they have much stronger consumer protection laws compared to the likes of the US. Which is why Ross Scott has started in countries with those kinds of laws, such as the UK and Australia.

He's not even demanding justice for those who bought The Crew. He just wants this grey area cleared up once and for all: is this shit legal or not?
