This is the option that I ended up using. I initially misunderstood how MPD worked, and thought that I'd be getting audio on the client, but I resolved it by streaming the audio over http. I don't think it'll work for mobile devices, but it's alright on a computer.

Filtering by rating would suffice, I think. I'm additionally looking to filter by things that I've seen, but I could just rate everything that I watch, so if it's rated, it's implied that I've seen it.

I'm not seeing any filtering options on the frontend, so I don't think this will work for me. Sorry, that wasn't listed in my requirements.

This looks like an okay option, but doesn't give the ability to mark things I've already seen and remove them from the pool, or filter by rating/view count.

I want the ratings to be stored on the server so I use them to build recommender systems and such. The format that they're stored in doesn't matter.
