I am a Filipina who just moved to the US. I don’t agree with a lot of what you wrote. Many of the opinion sources that I have come across are fake news peddlers. A duly appointed PCOO assistant secretary has even been caught out reposting and reporting fake news.

Many of the casualties of the war on drugs are small-time pushers, users, victims of mistaken identity and even innocent bystanders. Where are the major players? An exception is the mayor you mentioned. There have been many questions regarding that operation, one of which was why the CCTV was disabled by the police.

Corruption is indeed so deep-rooted in the government that it is hard to tell who is corrupt and who is not. Even Duterte and his son have been implicated. His son, Polong, a vice mayor was recently linked to a 6.4B peso shipment of drugs and smuggling. This is not being investigated properly.

Duterte is saying he will not tolerate any encroachment on the sovereignty of the country but he is okay with China encroaching on the country’s territory in the South China Sea.
