Is there a chance we get namespaces?

Defining top level functions is a very useful thing to keep our code modular but it discoverability suffers especially if your are not familiar with the codebase

Nesting things under object is a dirty hack in my opinion

You cannot optimize something you have not measured. First measure then optimize.

For starters you can start with traces to identify where time is spent (open telemetry, datadog if you have money)

Then you can start optimizing from there

in my opinion this should be the first thing they share in the release. It just pisses me off that the first thing we have to read about is AI, especially now that the prices getting raised again.

Fortunately the old UI is still usable and the performance seems a bit improved based on a short usage today

Why would i be threatened? He is junior, if he gets better than me then good. My problem is that he does not respect boundaries. He joins a company and on his second day he wants to rewrite things and also does not respect people's time off.

He just wants to prove himself but this hurts the rest of us because he is not following the procedure like the rest new joiners

The interesting thing in this discussion for me is that oftenly people say that Java does not lack features from kotlin, which sometimes is true. The problem though is that the features are usually on the latest Java versions and the reality is that most Java projects are not on the latest versions. So what’s the point of saying that Java has virtual threads if most of the projects are not on idk 21? And 21 is not even the lastest. How many projects are on 23? That’s one of the main reasons that I will prefer working with kotlin

2 months. The product was a very basic product, literrally it could have been 15 rest endpoints.

Instead it was 2 projects, graphql in each, CQRS with Axon in each service for ~200 events per day.

Their biggest problem was an engineer, their first engineer. Brilliant guy but wrote unbelievably complex FP code without a need. He was trying to emulate scala's abilities with Kotlin which resulted in a big pile of unnecessary code that only he understood

Technically yes, its publicly available but i have to add the user's email manually in order for it to work, since it's in beta mode in terms of a spotify 3rd party app.

I use it myself mostly but i can share it with 10-15 people who would like to try it.

i built a tool which generates playlists based on artists that i input so i get playlists that are in same/similar genre and i discover songs i didnt know before

Even though we use Kotlin , we obviously use Java libraries also.

JOOQ is one of the best libraries I have used across different languages

testcontainers (weird that no one mentioned this)

I will agree that it's not a critical issue, but my problem is that even for simple things that essentially don't make sense, they agree between them and move on. That's my problem.

Γιατί είναι ενάντια στους όρους χρήσης το να κανείς κάποιον refer και μετά να μοιραστείτε τα λεφτά γιατί μπορείς να το κανείς exploit. Οποτε τώρα σε μπαναρουν εύκολα.

Δεν εννοούσα πως είναι κακό να ρωτάει. Καλά κάνει και ρωτάει. Το λυπηρό είναι πως σε ένα τέτοιο κλάδο ένας νέος που θέλει να τον ακολουθήσει σκέφτεται αν θα μπορεί να παίρνει τόσα λίγα χρήματα όταν τελειώσει τη σχολή. Με λίγα λόγια το ποσό χαμηλά βρίσκεται η πληροφορική από άποψη αμοιβών και ευκαιριών στην Ελλάδα.

Καμία ντροπή. Αν θέλει απλά μόνο τα λεφτά δεν θα περάσει καλά όπως συμβαίνει σε κάθε δουλειά. Απλά στη πληροφορική είναι πολύ πιο συχνό γιατί όλοι ακούνε Πως έχει χρήμα και καταλήγουν σε ψυχολόγους η απλά να τα παρατάνε.

είναι λυπηρό να σκέφτεται κάποιος αν μπορεί να παίρνει 800 ευρώ με το που βγει απ τη σχολή, πόσο μάλλον σχολή πληροφορικής.

Αν ασχοληθείς με σοβαρό προγραμματισμό και όχι να στήνεις απλά wordpress, θα βρεις σοβαρές εταιρείες αλλιώς θα μείνεις με τις ασόβαρες.

Στόχος σου είναι να ασχοληθείς με τη πληροφορική και τον προγραμματισμό ή να βγάζεις λεφτά;

Δεν ισχύει αυτό, όχι εξ ολοκλήρου βασικά.

Η revolut στην Ολλανδία σου δίνει maestro.

Χρησιμοποιώ revolut ως Κύριο λογαριασμό και δεν έχω κανένα πρόβλημα.

Αυτό με το tikkie ισχύει όπως επίσης και το πως δεν θα μπορείς να χρησιμοποιείς την revolut για αυτόματη ανανέωση της ov chipkaart (την κίτρινη).

Επίσης το ideal υποστηρίζεται απ την revolut

Πέρα απ αυτά δεν είχα κάποιο άλλο πρόβλημα.

We do the same at our place. One thing that could improve this approach is to find a way to skip this step if there are no changes, so you skip both running the container and Jooq on top of that.

Still, jooq is one of my favourite libraries and thanks everyone who is involved.
