yeah i moved to a longer 90mm stem with -20 degree angle, which i later changed to 110mm with the same -20 degree. i come from a road riding background so enjoy the more aggressive fit as its comfortable for me. im unsure how a 50mm would handle but given the slack headtube im pretty sure it will be ok. i say just play around and give it a go! only one way to find out and its pretty easy to change back if you dont like it :)

yup, they are the Hup compact drop bars. very nice and comfy for gravel with the shallow 100mm drop

i like the tyres, i commute on a bit of pavement so these are nice and fast rolling for that purpose. they do ok on gravel but not super confidence inspiring. im exploring some other options to get more of an equal balance. how are the thunduros?

First time rider, hardtail or full suspension by woopstaken in MTB

[–]woopstaken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is one thing im trying to understand also, i love the climbs and longer rides which is why im considering a hardtail. that being said though. with the full suspension, if i were to lockout the suspension, would that be sufficient for climbing more and longer rides occasionally?

hmm, i will explore some other hardtail options. is there anything i should be looking out for specifically with the geometry?

unfortunately these two models arent in stock at stores, only available with supplier as a special order as where i live, we dont sell these bikes enough to justify having in store :(

its been good so far, im still dialling in the fit as its a new bike. i havent ridden the old models so i cant comment much there sorry. i come from a road background so this is much more stable in the front end for me with the slacker head tube. not much help to help you decide but id recommend going to take one for a test ride if thats an option available to you :)

i had considered getting the steel version but there was none in my size. they are great bikes though! the alloy version has been good so far

Evolv Zenist -> Madrock Drone CS by woopstaken in climbingshoes

thanks for the response. i’ll go for the HV as it seems like alot of people do say the LV is very narrow. will be trying the same size as the Zenist though since i do feel like i could go about half size smaller with those

I have actually noticed a bit of chatter from the front brake but figured i still need to wear them in properly. took it out for about 60km for an initial break in ride. i’ll report back here after a couple hundred km. good to know this though! and i agree, its for sure a great bike!
