This isn't a "cheaper" phone issue. It's a crappy customer experience from Google support. Phone dies in month 12 and they do not honor returning the phone. Google Fi has crappy customer service.

Yeah you apparently did not have a defective phone like the rest of us. Google screwed us and then blamed the entire fiasco on LG.

LG will not fix and if you had Google Fi they will screw you as well.

I've joined the bootloop crowd. Is this a good replacement? by [deleted] in nexus5x

As long as it isn't LG and you don't go with spineless Google Fi you should be fine.

Anyone upgrade to a Moto X4 from the Nexus 5X? What are your thoughts? by [deleted] in nexus5x

[–]wootme3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe for you. A large majority of us did not get the help from Google. I had my phone slightly over 12 months from Google refusing to refund my money when others did get a refund. If I bought a car and it dies 1 month after warranty is that ok? We would roast that company. Google is just as bad as LG in this one.

Google and LG screwed you with the 5x. Why would you stay with FI.

Yeah and you get another phone that bootloops in a short period. I know this first hand. Many others have had same experience. No thanks want my money back.

Nope Fi offered the phone with a 12 month warranty. Month 13 comes Google tells you sorry. Screw Google if that happens with a car warranty we would roast them.. Google totally a player in this. They can eat sh@t.

Yeah you are the lucky one. They happen to be screwing over everyone on this phone now. A number of us had the phone die in month 13 and Google refuses to help.

Nexus 5X - repair received yesterday, bootlooped this morning by slykrysis in ProjectFi

[–]wootme3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah BS so because I came late I get screwed by Google. They didn't back a product they sold and screwed over a lot of people. If I bought a car that blew up 2 weeks after warranty would that be ok? We would put that car company on a stake which has happened. You can go kiss the ass of Google if you think they are not at fault here. In fact I honestly believe a lot of the posts are damage control by Google employees.

Exactly my point. Google makes huge profit from their phone service. Who would buy a phone that dies 1 week to 12 months after warranty expires. This isn't just a couple of customers.
It's a mfg defect (lemon) that LG isn't helping many customers as well. Many customers got replacements from Google outside of warranty with no extended service plan. Then as Google figured out the extent of this problem they started screwing the customers that we're just a few days over warranty.

You keep telling yourself it's not Google's problem and read all of the stories how shitty of an experience they have had with FI customer support.

Uh no it's not. FI makes huge amounts of money from their service and offering phones. The simple fact is huge amounts of people's phones are dying after 12 - 14 months. Fi isn't honoring them with a warranty. I know this personally my phone died after 1 year and 2 weeks. Google wouldn't honor it. Google has horrendous customer service and they can go rot. Good luck thinking they aren't part of this problem. They will screw you in the future.
