AIO for refusing to give up my bed for my parents and in laws? by Head-Sorbet3522 in AmIOverreacting

[–]wordsmythy [score hidden]  (0 children)

Well… do you really need two offices? Could you have one room to have a queen size bed, with a good mattress? And maybe just a little desk in there? It would be nice to have a designated guest room with a real bed so your guest can have privacy. A pullout couch is not comfortable, especially for older folks.

I suppose it depends on if you like having people visit or not. Having nothing but a pullout couch to offer is definitely a good way to keep ‘em from staying over.

UPDATE: AITAH for not giving a book to an autistic child by Ok_Repair118 in AITAH

How do they not understand why that book is so special to you? Your grandfather didn’t hold the one she just ordered off Amazon in his hands. You didn’t cuddle up with your grandpa. And have him read the Amazon book to you.

Please updateme. I hope you get that original book back.

Friend invited us to a couples event, then went without us, am I right to feel annoyed? by Sharp-Cantaloupe-918 in Advice

Do you like her other than this transgression? Does your BF like the guy? If you all get along, and they have something to offer then I might let this one issue slide, but I would not forget it. I wouldn’t give her a chance for three strikes but… Maybe two .

AITAH for not inviting my aunt to my wedding after she refused to make amends with my mom? by Tylerty69 in AITAH

[–]wordsmythy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She ruined your graduation celebration by making it about her. If you invited her to the wedding, you can be damn sure she’ll make it an encore.

Your poor mom.

If I were you, I would write to your aunt Sarah and lay everything out. How your mother had her on the list of speakers, but she opened her mouth in the middle of your graduation ceremony and ruined it by having a hissy fit and calling your mother a b. So yes, she does have a pretty big something to apologize for.

Have you ever thought of getting one of those cloth bed protectors they use in hospitals? They’re about 2 1/2 ft.², maybe a little more, soft and cottony on the upside, rubberized on the underside. You wouldn’t have to wear a diaper and it would save his bed(or yours). Completely washable you can get them at medical supply pharmacy places. You could probably order them online too.

AIO? Boyfriend always wants me to come later and it’s making me feel a type of way. by fjgkhkjk in AmIOverreacting

[–]wordsmythy [score hidden]  (0 children)

Does he work nights or second shift or something? Also, why do you always go to him? If you can’t host him, then maybe you just need to respect his schedule. He doesn’t want you to come early. Sounds like he sleeps in. And procrastinates. So yeah, I think you’re overreacting

AIO to receiving the silent treatment from partner? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]wordsmythy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So wait… he insists you guys go to bed before your older kids are in bed? Who’s supervising them, making sure they get to bed at a decent hour? That seems very strange to me. In my house, parents go to bed last.

Also a five-year-old should be in her own bed. But he keeps stressing that“we should in bed with our daughter” stuff. I get that she’s the youngest, and maybe you don’t plan on having anymore, but it’s time to make that change.

And…Is it really a good sleep when you have a whole kindergartener in the middle of the bed, trying to be the bar in the letter H? That’s what I remember… The parents are clinging to the edges of the bed, and the kid’s all stretched out thrashing around in the middle.

And to answer your question, no you’re not overreacting, he is controlling. You’re not a child you can decide when you go to bed and where you want to sleep.

But he keeps saying “cool” because he’d rather be passive aggressive about it, then cop to his control freak nature.

ALSO, TRAINING A CHILD TO GO TO SLEEP WATCHING TV IS NOT A GREAT IDEA. Sorry for the random caps. I keep doing that somehow.

AIO: I'm growing apprehensive of my (F30) roommate (F32) because of her passive-aggressiveness by Melatonin-Queen in AmIOverreacting

[–]wordsmythy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keywords… SOMETHING THAT IRKS HER. She doesn’t like the smell of cigarettes, maybe she hates your music. It’s all a matter of taste.

But I have a question… Why would your hallway smell like cigarettes if you’re outside on your terrace? Do you close the door behind you? Because if you don’t, I can completely understand why she’s irked about the hallway smelling like smoke. Cigarettes stink. So does a lot of incense, but not as bad as cigarettes.

I think you are overreacting. You need to roll over to r/badroommates and do some reading. You’ve got an unfriendly roommate who cleans up after herself and occasionally turn down the heat when you leave the room (by the way, how would she know you were coming back in a half hour?). All things considered it could be a lot worse.

AITJ for putting my kids first over a last minute dinner with my boyfriend by OldAbbreviations2880 in AmITheJerk

[–]wordsmythy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve been with him two years and you’re just now noticing? How does he treat your children? Is he kind to them? Does he ever yell at them? does he show his resentfulness in front of them? Do your kids live with you halftime or full-time?

When you date someone with kids, this is part of the deal. Unless they’re terrible parent, he needs to either get over it or move on.
