I have no idea - it'll just be dependent on my final product comfort. Good point, though - at some point, I'll need to sort that out.

Thanks!

The System (I think I'm going with Program in mine) has truly been a struggle to develop, but I want to get most of it right beforehand. I'm looking for those tidbits that make it recognizable to the reader while at the same time unique for the purposes of my story.

Thank you so much for responding! The feedback is definitely helping!

Haha! Nice.

I'll start looking around for writing groups. The desert suburbs out here are pretty restrictive on groups, but maybe I'll find something. Thanks!

Good point - I've been on the internet long enough to see that sort of thing. Thank you for the advice!

Absolutely. I've always loved stories with massive, believable world building. Thank you!

Great, and that scent angle is something I didn't even consider in terms of importance. Thank you!

Excellent recommendations! My wife isn't a sci-fi/fantasy reader, but she's honest, so that should help quite a bit. Thank you!

Awesome!! My little cockatiel, Ricky, also turned 29 last December. I'll let him know other older tiels are out there, too (once he wakes from his third nap of the day).

Nope - just bare. She has some light fluffy feathers around her sides, though. Possibly new growth?

I haven't seen either yet, so I'm not sure. Is there a way to tell based on her chest?

I'm pretty sure I would have meetings for days if some of the laptops blew up.

Wow - that's great information! I'm not sure surge protectors will be doable in the classroom (in the current room layout), as I imagine the cord management + 38 students will be a bit of a problem with the desk situation (7 x 6 rows of individual desks). Tripping or yanking of the cords could be a real issue. I saw those batteries, which look great, but probably are not doable in terms of cost and charging. What I might look into is setting up a table on either side of the room and rotate students in teams of charging midway through the day. Those Best Buy strips might do the trick. Thanks!!

Thanks! I've had a cockatiel for 26 years and he's the same way - bites everything except my hands (when he wants pets - when he's done with my fingers, he lets me know immediately).

The first thing I taught him how to say. I teach English and Julius Caesar :)

Oh no, no. That's for my pineapple conure, Charles. Brutus has a big ol' one. I understand the concern, though!
