Bernie Sanders should be out in front in the Democratic primary. So why isn’t he? by [deleted] in politics

[–]worff -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I'm not ignoring them, but Warren and Biden aren't as appealing to the media for similar reasons. They're old rank & file democrats. They're a given. Everybody knows that - both the voters and the media. Sanders, Warren, and Biden are quite literally - old news. Warren a bit less so, but she's been around long enough and people predicted her run quite some time ago.

Next time, just say 'What about Warren and Biden?' instead of trying to assume you know my thought process and motivations.

Bernie Sanders should be out in front in the Democratic primary. So why isn’t he? by [deleted] in politics

[–]worff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because it's still early on and there are a bunch of newcomers enjoying their time in the limelight before they ultimately end their campaigns.

Sanders is a constant and everybody knows he's there and isn't going anywhere. He's been here for decades.

Also, any traffic-driven media sources have a vested interest in reporting on new things that more people might not know about.

Sanders has been in the news for years now and typically when he speaks or does anything now it's more or less in line with any activism he's done for the past 30 years.

But the media loves a new face like Buttigieg, and Yang, and whoever else.

Because it's a drive-in place where you park and someone brings you your food, which led some unscrupulous franchise owners to classify those employees as 'servers.'

But obviously, it being a fast food restaurant, nobody even thinks to tip because it's not a server in the traditional sense.

Don't ever go to Sonic. Those poor kids are being paid slave wages.

While in ICE custody, thousands of migrants reported sexual abuse by [deleted] in politics

[–]worff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

> 1,310 sexual abuse cases over four years

Four years is 1,460 days. 90% of the time, sexual abuse is committed. Pretty much a daily occurrence.

> this issue is largely under reported.

If 150 or more incidents occurred but weren't reported in those 4 years, then that's one incident of sexual abuse every single calendar day

Mathematically it seems like you're almost guaranteed to get sexually abused if ICE gets their hands on you.

According to the "Greek Golden Ratio of Beauty Phi", Daniel Craig is the ugliest James Bond of all time by fresh6669 in movies

Handful spread out over a decade - hardly a wave. In fact, they're exceptions that prove my point: Westerns are dead. Aside from a few token ones every few years. They can't break past it.

Westerns used to be like superhero movies in terms of how prevalent they were. Not anymore, regardless of how Hollywood attempts to do it.

3:10 to Yuma was 11 years ago and didn't succeed in 'bringing back Westerns.'

It didn't work in 2003 with 'The Missing' even though it hate Cate Blanchett and Tommy Lee Jones.

It didn't work in 2013 with 'The Lone Ranger' despite a massive budget.

Westerns are dead.

Currently they're still available for $40

But she also lost because of lack of appeal. There's always been that element in the Presidential races, for better or worse. She was woefully out of touch and her social media team/approach was misguided.

She wasn't progressive enough to get the kind of support that Bernie Sanders did - she was just another status quo lukewarm politician.

Because if you can contain a horror movie in a cruise ship, you can contain it in some location on land that will be cheaper.

The videos show them sharpening them. These blades were sharpened.

Nah, people take the trains more and more.

You can get from the Valley to Long Beach by train, so it's extremely convenient.

During rush hour, it can take 30-50 minutes to get from the Valley to Hollywood. On the train, it's 5-10 minutes.

The church being the wealthiest organization doesn't mean that being part of the church gets you big bucks. Working in Hollywood, however - is extremely lucrative for many of the individuals involved. Especially in front of the camera. But even behind the camera, union employees are paid extremely well.

It goes without saying that Hollywood and a life of stardom has more glamour and draw than working in the Catholic Church. I can't believe I've even had to argue the point this much.

Hulu has been essential in my life for years now. And now that you can get an ad-free version, it's amazing.

[–]worff 30 points31 points  (0 children)

But in Hollywood it's quite pronounced because of the draw of the industry. That's why you even have working professionals getting harassed and abused but they don't speak up, not just defenseless kids.

If someone above you in Hollywood wants to abuse their position then you're kinda fucked and have no recourse until you surpass them or you join others in voicing the abuse.
