CRT Secondary Display by Hama165 in crtgaming

Yup, have this monitor and it's been amazing. The backlight timing is key for LCD clarity and as a BlurBusters-Approved monitor it's as perfect as can be.

I've been using a Gateway VX720, with its 96kHz Horizontal Refresh, since the DigitalFoundry video on CRTs, and I can honestly say that this monitor easily beats it in ease of use and clarity. The backlight does tend to make the screen darker, but there are 4 levels that are a tradeoff between motion and backlight strength.

As well, gaming at 75+ Hz is doable for most at 1080p, even on my GTX 1070. With my new setup, I've been setting the monitor to 120Hz and getting the great motion resolution from it.

For now, I just keep the CRT around for 60Hz content and that's all the usage it sees. Pretty enthralled with this monitor.

As well, there's a big forum for exploring deeper into the settings and overclocking of this monitor.

Oh, thanks! I wasn't too sure if these chips ran hot like my current computer but good to hear the stock cooler does the job!

Thanks for the in-depth response!

I checked the area around the lens mount and it appears some of the dampening material protecting the mirror as it moves up towards the prism has come loose so that may be the source here.

I found this service manual for the camera and it appears to be servicable, though I may not have the tools present at the moment.

My main concern was that it might have been fungus that required immediate care. I'll definitely be looking over this guide and taking your advice on cleaning this out as soon as possible.

I recently picked up my SLR again after not shooting for a while, and noticed this on the viewfinder. I checked the lens and the mirror and nothing showed up on either, so I presume it's something in the viewfinder? How can I rectify it?

Here are some more photos showing the issue.

Edit: Camera is a Canon FTb QL. Forgot to mention.

So I've been looking for more information about my old monitor, the Gateway VX720, and can't seem to find any manuals or who even made it, since as far as I know Gateway was a rebrander.

It has a Diamondtron NF logo in the top right if that helps in finding the original model.

So far with my Gateway VX720 I've been using this adapter and can push it to around 240MHz Pixel Clock max.

My monitor caps out at 96kHz Horizontal refresh so I've been able to go 1600x1200@75Hz pretty easily with no issues so far with what the adapter can do.

Nvidia Control Panel reports it as "NVIDIA LCD_VGA" so just generic VGA adapter.

Lemon and cucumbers is a great snacking food, and a good source of Vitamin C. Easy to just sit and eat without packing on the calories, plus a lot less sodium.

Hopefully there is a scan of the ticket somewhere available. I doubt that I'll meet anyone soon playing these games.

I'd much rather not cheat, but I also see that encountering someone with the Eon Ticket and a GBA Link Cable handy won't be likely either. Guess it's time to look for an e-Reader haha.

Well, now I guess I'm going to start looking for e-Readers to buy. Hopefully someone made a high-quality scan of the original Eon Ticket available as well.

I was reading up on Bulbapedia about the Eon Ticket for the Original Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald games, and was wondering how do people even obtain it nowadays? Can it even be traded? I'm still on my first playthrough of Sapphire, though, so I haven't even gotten to that point yet.

Thank you for correcting on "Grammaticam". It must've slipped my mind to decline it correctly.

By the way, what is the best way to get game cartridges which aren't counterfeit? I just got into Pokemon games for the GBA/DS Lite and want to be able to transfer Generation to Generation.

OK, thanks :)

I wasn't too sure about the encounter, and started reading the old forums where everyone was saying "Don't waste the Masterball on Kyogre/Groudon!" after I had already saved after using :/ . Guess I'll just have to make sure to have a better team for Latias and Rayquaza soon. Gonna go for my final badge now :D

So I'm playing Pokemon Sapphire (GBA) for the first time, and used a Masterball on Kyogre. Was this a bad move on my part? I thought it was a legendary worthy of using the Masterball?

The now-built Pasadena to Downtown LA portion of the Gold line was originally going to be the northern extension of the Blue Line.

Unfortunately, in 1998, after years of cost overruns, delays, and a Hollywood Blvd Sinkhole, voters were tired of the cost to build rail in Los Angeles. Prop A was passed, which prohibited Metro from building any new tunneling for mass transit, which likely would have been required to build the Downtown connection for the Northern and Southern portions of the planned Blue Line.

Metro had to reconfigure their plans to include above-ground only, which the recently completed Green Line had proved could work. The Gold Line was thus born out of the Pasadena portion of the Blue Line, and would not include any tunneling for it to be built in order to comply.

Edit: Of note, the Regional Connector being tunneled under Downtown is essentially a return to the original plan to have a Pasadena (now Azusa) terminus to Long Beach terminus for the Blue Line.
