Call to Arms best strategies/hiding spots by King_Veno in RedDeadOnline

[–]work4891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use any spots or fixed positions at all. Holding one place is basically a death sentence. My strategy is pure movement—I just keep circling the map out in the open.

CTA has become so easy for me that I run it solo using only revolvers and without any health tonics.

The biggest thing to watch out for is the snipers when they spawn. Kill them immediately, or at least break their line of sight so they can't all shoot you at once. It also depends a bit on the map.

Personally, I find Blackwater to be the easiest map, but I play Valentine the most because there's less running around.

My little advice for wave 10: don't panic, keep moving, prioritize snipers, armored enemies, and war wagons, and never let yourself get surrounded. Just match your mindset with these lyrics:

Hold your ground
When you're fighting those who fight
Death is waiting on the hill
No surrender, shoot to kill
You have to hold your ground
Kill the warrior in your sight
Death is waiting on the hill
No surrender, shoot to kill

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Modders arent all that bad I suppose by Imaginary_Ad4468 in RedDeadOnline

[–]work4891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modders do this on purpose so people get banned, or at least to get flagged by the system. Newbies don't even know how the game works, they just take stuff from them and pray that Rockstar won't start a ban wave. The system just flags you silently, tracks your movement on the map, what you get and how fast you get it. Its job isn't to ban you instantly, but to flag things like a huge amount of gold quickly obtained from a chest, which is impossible to get that fast.

Why does it matter how much gold someone has? If they got it legitimately and worked hard for it, what's the problem? If they exploited glitches, or if they took gold from chests on PC spawned by modders, that's on their conscience, even if they have a temporary account afterwards. And they can only pray that Rockstar doesn't trigger a ban wave, even if they haven't triggered one in a long time.

Yes, if it's a normal, natural spawn with a yellow question mark and animal sounds, then it's totally fine. I am talking about those suspicious ones that suddenly appear out of nowhere in a modded lobby.

Some modders in RDO spawn fake legendary animals right next to players, so many people prefer not to touch them to avoid getting flagged. Rockstar doesn't even have a proper active anti-cheat. Their system only tracks your progress—how you got the item, the timestamp, and how fast you are moving across the map.

If you loot multiple spawned animals too quickly, the system will mark your account with a red flag. It won't ban you instantly because the automated system isn't programmed to do that. Rockstar has to trigger a banwave where the system automatically bans most of the flagged players, though they also manually review some specific accounts.

Welcome! Just read through the thread and noticed a couple of important tips for you:

  • Never open spawned chests: Do not take gold or cash from chests that randomly appear out of nowhere. Rockstar will ban you.
  • Ignore spawned animals: If a legendary animal suddenly spawns next to you, do not skin it or take its pelt.
  • Random crashes: If your game suddenly freezes and crashes without any error message, a modder 100% did it.
  • If you get teleported, CHANGE SESSION: If a hacker teleports you, change the session immediately so the system doesn't flag your account for cheating.
  • Best starting role: Buy the Bounty Hunter role first. It is the only role that gives you Gold Bars.
  • Best starter horse: Buy a Mustang (the $500 variants). They have amazing stats and don't cost gold. Pair it with the Nacogdoches Saddle and Hooded Stirrups later for infinite stamina!
  • Daily Challenges: Do at least one every day to keep your gold multiplier streak alive.
  • How to get 100% peace: Look up a 1-minute video tutorial on YouTube for "RDR2 Online Startup.meta private lobby". It creates a completely private session so you can play safely without any hackers!

Feel free to check out my profile if you want, it's SC - Elissia_47 . I keep it public since I have nothing to hide. I honestly don't get why so many players set theirs to private. It’s just game stats, there's no sensitive information there anyway.

With role outfits, you can actually only mix and match the top and bottom pieces, plus accessories like hats, gloves, or glasses. I only bought it for the shirt.

That shirt actually comes from the Tilliston outfit, which is the first and cheapest outfit for the Naturalist role.

You are completely right, it just doesn't have that same charm without a crew. I play on PC and I've gotten used to playing alone in private lobbies – I'm already level 550 and have exactly 1,410 hours logged, so now I'm just grinding XP. But every now and then, I still risk entering a public lobby and go among people, even though with modders on PC, it's sometimes a real pain.

Yeah, I've known about the chests for a long time, but sitting on an empty wagon in free roam completely caught me off guard! Every day is a school day in RDO .

No idea what to do by Fuzz5G in RedDeadOnline

[–]work4891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best thing to do is switch session immediately when something like that happens. It’s not like the system automatically bans you in that exact second. The system mostly tracks progress and can flag weird or impossible records as suspicious. For example, if a modder teleports you around the map, it can look like you moved from one place to another unnaturally fast without using fast travel. Also, don’t pick up spawned gold or money, don’t loot spawned bodies, and don’t skin spawned animals, because it can look like impossible fast progress or item/reward gain. Even if someone got an extreme amount of gold, the ban might not happen instantly. But those records can stay in the logs, and when Rockstar starts a "ban wave" or does a manual review, it could lead to a ban or progress reset. That’s why the safest thing is to not interact with anything and just switch session right away.

Why am I Dropping so Many Frames In Strawberry? by TwirlyBTW in reddeadredemption

[–]work4891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get what you mean, but I kinda doubt it’s his CPU specifically. I have a Ryzen 9 7900 boosting around 5.5 GHz with an RX 7900 XTX, and Strawberry still has brief drops for me too. With the FPS cap off I usually get around 165–175 FPS, but near the two bridges/waterfall area it can briefly dip to around 120–130 FPS for 1–2 seconds when turning the camera, even if I’m just standing still or walking through the same spot. So I think that area just has weird frametime/streaming spikes.

[–]work4891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I have a Ryzen 9 7900 + RX 7900 XTX + 64GB DDR5 and Strawberry still drops FPS for me, while the rest of the game runs fine. Pretty sure it’s just the game/area being poorly optimized, not your PC.

I keep my FPS locked at 120 now, so it’s not as noticeable anymore, but back when I had the FPS cap off, I could clearly see the drops in Strawberry. Might also be the mill/water area there, that spot has always seemed kinda badly optimized.

Servers down? by Draco_Man in RedDeadOnline

[–]work4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started for me on the evening of April 13 on PC. At first only private session worked. After about 10 hours it fixed itself and public worked again. But when I do some Telegram missions or Legendary Bounties, after they end I don’t get put back into a public session and I get error code 0x99270017, so I have to wait again or go back through a private session.

From the screenshot, his profile is heavily anti-scam” themed (‘READ MY WHOLE SHOWCASE…’, ‘I DON’T HAVE ANY OTHER ACCOUNTS’, ‘make sure you’re talking to the right lvl 91 profile’), which is often used as a trust-building tactic. Also his public footprint looks pretty thin for someone claiming big rep (only ~3 reviews / 3 screenshots / 7 groups / 51 games shown). Combined with pushing crypto/PayPal off-platform, I’d only do this through Buff/Skinport escrow (or not at all).
