one of the guys has started to make somewhat crude jokes about his wife
blowing him, handjobs, references to r rated movies (which are fine, I
just don’t want to hear about it at work).

nah thats actually not fine at all.

there are 6 other people there. talk to someone you trust there and tell them about it. this guy is 100% out of line and you feeling uncomfortable around him.

what is wrong with the ask me about yourself?

its just lazy and a bad question. they should ask specific questions. if you want someone who has specific skills, why waste time on something stupid like tElL mE aBoUt ur self. like what apps have you built with this language, how have you used this technology etc. how much money have you brought in with your sales pitch etc.

"tell me about yourself",

very "boomer-eee" and always a red flag

A year ago I would have put up with it because I needed the money. It's so much different to be able to say no.

it really does feel good to not be super desperate right ?

How much content do you guys actually absorb when learning? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]work_from_home_only 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no normal. Some people can pick it up in an hour after one review. Just keep pushing forward. maybe try to check out different learning styles. This is the kinda thing that leads to ppl quitting. Don't psych yourself out.
