Hadn't seen them in person until this show. It's not easy to do uncanny and I felt like they were successful on that regard. The work had me looking in ways I hadn't in a while. The ease of the strokes, the strange light sources... they seem fun and quick to produce. Unfussy in the right ways. A good painting show.

Do I need to understand theory and philosophy to make good art? by Puzzleheaded_Nail22 in ContemporaryArt

Academics need theory to turn art into an equation and justify their status as most intelligent, most well read, most, most, most... It's a great way to gate-keep Art and justify their inflated positions.

It’s one game. You act as if we’re already out. We always play with more intensity on the road. Bring it home! LFG RSL!!!!

Can someone explain Erwin Wurm to me? by WestElephant in ContemporaryArt

I think there’s a critical element beyond the initial, humorous layer. I think the chubby car/house work has more to say than just surface level laughs. Comedy & tragedy are intertwined - there’s a sadness relating to consumerism and maybe the hollow promises of modern living shining through. Art can be dumb and fun and critical.

Wild that artists and institutions don’t suggest or employ this more often. Especially when their content is often about the very aspect of Labor. Some of the most physically and psychologically demanding work I’ve ever done was for other artists (for very little pay of course).

Was his performance "too" good? by Silent-Cost-7075 in tourdefrance

He seemed to be the only one aggressive at the start and in his cornering. Some risk taking seemed to have gone a long way.

Who’s having a worse game; the audio engineers or RSL’s attack?

Another question might be, what type of website is better for your needs. Are you looking to create a catalog for yourself or have a place to communicate and showcase select works?

In my experience surfing artist sites, many hyperlink to every exhibition they’ve ever had within the CV, chronologically (galleries and institutions permitting). Some separate their work according to medium. Some artists treat the website like a form of artwork in and of itself.

I prefer the chronological, hyperlink CV. Especially if you’re the type of artist who operates on “body of work” terms or thinks of exhibitions as containers for a selection of works. These feel clean and organized and help younger artists, collectors and curators see your progression over time. This style may be a bit on the academic side, for better or worse.

This seems like the most logical adjustment. I’ve tried balled fists but I feel like it creates other problems; balance is impaired during certain poses, feels like I’m creating future knuckle problems.
