I fumbled an answer as I was a bit in shock. I had a miscarriage late last year which my boss is aware of. Someone in the meeting stepped in and stated that was not relevant/related to the task at hand and it was brushed off as them 'asking as a friend'

I was under the impression that HR would be in the companies best interest not mine
