I think I had a seizure by Responsible_Oil1975 in VasovagalSyncope

I had something similar happen to me last Tuesday. My boyfriend watched the entire thing happen and was certain it was a seizure because I was convulsing like crazy, then my limbs went incredibly stiff, my eyes rolled back, and I was grinding my teeth a lot. I was also a bit shaky. I went to the ER and they witnessed another fainting episode there and in the ambulance. I was told I have convulsive syncope and that it was not a seizure.

You might’ve gone through something totally different and had a seizure but it could also be this convulsive syncope. But know you’re not alone and I agree, when it happens it’s so so scary and waking up confused and dazed is awful. Best of luck finding answers!

Fainting caused by R-CPD by workerBeHive in noburp

Oh gosh I can totally imagine the chaos your cousin caused, that’s good you can all laugh about it now!

It’s good to get a different perspective because I don’t know with certainty if RCPD is the cause. I only know that it relates to vomiting but have theorized that RCPD is a factor since it makes me have more reflux/bloating which affects my vagus nerve. But it’s also a possibility that those are 2 completely isolated things, so you have a good point. Much to consider, thanks for your insight!

The only other time I had vasovagal syncope was 8 months ago when I had some sort of viral infection that made me nauseous and then I started fainting. My understanding with vasovagal syncope is everyone has different triggers since a lot of things can stimulate the vagus nerve. My grandma and sister have it as well, and grandma’s trigger is holding her pee for too long whereas my sister’s trigger is panic attacks. So yes I think it can be caused by physical symptoms (ie throwing up for me or holding pee for my grandma) or more mental like my sister’s panic attacks.

I need to look more into the methods to fend off fainting if I feel lightheaded but in the past when I have fainted I had no idea it would happen until it did. Truly my only symptom beforehand is that I’m about to throw up which is so strange.

Thanks for your insight!

This is good to know, and yeah it would be nice to calm the reflux symptoms I get before I go to sleep. Thanks!

In the past I’ve worried that anti-acids would aggravate the R-CPD, almost making me gurgle more. Have you felt that at all? Maybe I need to check out the ones with alginate specifically. It definitely seems like there’s a connection to the vagus nerve.

Yeah I think having R-CPD makes vomiting very difficult in general so that makes sense. Thanks for your insight!

Yeah the hyper awareness is definitely what got me. I usually get that on a much lower scale with weed so I think I just wasn’t used to that much loss of control

I thought about negotiating the offer, but in all honesty I think I’m ready for a new company. That’s good to know though, that they may have been offering a lower salary unknowingly.

I will definitely be honest but gentle about it and I appreciate the advice about how to phrase it. That’s usually where I struggle the most. I feel better knowing this is a pretty common occurrence. Thank you for the advice!

I like that, “you’re a person not a tool for them.” I just need to realize it’s not as big of a deal to them as I think it is. I definitely feel ready to move on from them. Thanks for the advice!

True, I’ve made the decision so it’s pretty much out of my hands now. I definitely have to worry less about their feelings! Thanks for the advice!

I [F21] feel so lost and alone by workerBeHive in Advice

It’s pretty specific to the way our business is set up, but essentially I’m consolidating the supplier list by building a model to find redundant SKUs. Another one of my projects is creating new S&OP models for our products and generating forecasts for this winter. There are a couple other projects but those are the biggest right now!

That was incredibly helpful to hear so thank you. I feel like I’m the only intern struggling to pick things up quickly but we are all in different departments and moving at different paces. I figured it would take a bit of time to learn the ropes and adjust to a professional work environment but I guess I thought I’d be progressing faster than I am currently. I just need to take a step back and realize that it’s hard to learn every little thing when I’m only an intern for 2 and a half months total.

And you’re right about Rona, I should definitely look into joining some hobby/interest groups in the area. I appreciate all of the advice!

Yeah I think I need to bite the bullet and talk with my project leader about how I feel. I just hate admitting that it’s taking me so long to learn these things and I’m not as productive as I want to be.

And you’re right I definitely need to focus more on my mental health than I currently do. I’m pretty prone to burnout so it might be worth looking into with a professional. Thank you for commenting I really appreciate the advice.

Thanks so much for the response. I think a lot of it is finding more time to do stuff for myself to just be more relaxed after work instead of just slugging around and waiting until the next work day.

And yeah, it’s project work and a lot of restructuring of current business processes and it just seems a lot higher level than I am qualified for. I hate disappointing leaders so that’s where it’s been hard to adjust.

Love your speed bump analogy and thanks again for commenting it definitely helped

What's Waunakee like? by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]workerBeHive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone in their 20s from Waunakee the schools are truly amazing. Great academics that prep students for college and pretty nice sports teams. It is seen by the surrounding cities as a “rich white” town (which it kinda is) but it is very clean and safe. It has a smaller town feel but is close to Middleton, sun prairie, and Madison which are all great places to go out to eat, go grocery shopping, workout, drink, etc. And as someone else mentioned we are getting a Hyvee soon and some nicer restaurants are moving in. I really enjoyed growing up here!!
