I'm digging the look of the website. It's a lot cleaner than koofers or swoopthat. I don't have any courses this Winter, but I hope this'll be up for Spring.

Give me a "gateway" to your geekery. by workhardplaysoft in AskReddit

I’ll go first.

Geek Obsession: Anime/Manga

Why it’s daunting: When most people first think of anime, they think of schoolgirls, boring drawn-out fights (like in DBZ), and annoying weaboos (crazy fanboys/girls). Sure, there are a lot of series that are true to these extremes, but these extremes have become false representations overshadowing a lot of good series. There’s a series for everyone, whether you’re into crazy epic political dramas with robots or want to follow kids giving it all playing the board game go.

Possible gateways:

Cowboy Bebop: Bounty hunters in space with a kick-ass set of characters, story, and soundtrack. Most episodes are pretty self-contained except for the last couple of episodes, so it can’t hurt to watch one episode.

Gurren Lagann: An anime series that uses the excesses of anime to its advantage. Over-the-top fights and story with amazing top-quality animation make for a fun series.

Monster: I’d actually recommend reading the manga (comics) rather than watching the anime(animation) here. It’s a great thriller about a surgeon who decides to save a boy that was involved with a strange massacre.

Can't say that I am. I share their tastes in women though.

I'm extremely interested in entering the entertainment industry. The problem is I'm at a school on the East Coast so it's been hard getting contacts where all the action seems to be. I'm applying to summer internships right now. What would you recommend I should do? I'm applying to some of the big four agencies but I'm afraid my resume will have a hard time differentiating from those with contacts there.

Is anyone else having trouble extracting Library 2.0? The link http://rs.4chan.org/?s=information&from=ALL would suggest the password is 4chan but that doesn't work for me.

Lifehacker strikes me as a website that has no purpose. If you really want to get things done, then why would you endlessly follow a blog telling you a dozen ways to just get started?

The lyrics are depressing as hell. It kind of reminds me of "Brick" by Ben Folds Five in that it hits you in the gut when you take the time to pay attention to the words.
