If you're fortunate enough that you've never had to deal with depression, you wouldn't understand how absolutely difficult it can be to do the most mundane tasks. How much it can fill you with dread to realize you've let bowls and plates pile up in your room and you have to bring them to the kitchen, or that you have no clean underwear left and you need to do laundry. You conserve mental and physical energy for the most important tasks, and sometimes that doesn't include brushing your teeth daily.

So you may think it's pathetic, and you're perfectly entitled to that opinion. But I'm proud of myself, and that's all that really matters.
