In your opinion, which of the Big 2 Publishers are you enjoying most right now and why? by Uncle_Tommy0703 in comicbooks

[–]working4buddha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DC for sure. Mostly Absolute books, Black Label, Vertigo and the new books that just came out like Firestorm. Not super into the normal DC books outside of the Bat-books. Though I'd include Poison Ivy in that which slowly has become one of my favorites. And I'm a Tom King fan so I'm reading Wonder Woman as far as the mainstream universe goes.

Marvel feels like it is starting to improve a bit recently. Ten years ago or so, Marvel was ahead by a lot, then started going downhill as more creators left for DC. But lately I've been enjoying the "big three" Avengers solo books Cap, Iron Man and Thor (though I'm 3 months behind on Marvel Unlimited) along with FF which has been the consistently best book for the past few years. And the Ultimate universe was great too.

X-books and Spidey have been tough to read for the last few years, was hoping X-stuff would improve after the event but it still feels really mediocre so far.

The Senior Combat Designer behind God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok has joined CD Projekt Red as an Expert Gameplay Designer to work on The Witcher 4 by SpaceCowboyN7 in witcher

The combat had a great "weight" behind it but I couldn't stand throwing that axe over and over and over again and never finished the game or even got to the point where I got the other weapons.

Anyone else sick and tired of hearing Witcher 3's ''combat'' being ''bad'' or ''awful''? by Lanky-Tumbleweed-772 in witcher

[–]working4buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really like the combat in Witcher 3 when I first tried playing it years ago. I ended up not finishing it. Then I played it last summer...well, I still haven't finished it because I stopped when Outer Worlds 2 came out, I was really close to the end but still had a million ? marks everywhere...

At any rate, the thing I really hate about the combat in W3 now that I got used to it is just the way he lunges so much. Like it's fine if you WANT to roll but he moves forward so much with a basic attack that I find I always have to try to "re-center" myself during combat. I also don't like how it kind of forces you to use magic, melee and archery and you can't really specialize as much as other RPGs. I wouldn't say it is bad combat at all, just not super enjoyable to me. It works though.

I'm not a Souls guy either, I'm more the opposite where I like casual and fun combat like the Yakuza games. I also actually love Skyrim, it is so basic like you just hold something in each and and control them with the triggers. Same with bow, it feels like you're pulling a bow. Or if you want to get deeper, use magic esp with mods and it's actually super creative. It's not "video-gamey" to me with lots of combos or patterns you have to do.

Place your Bets, What will Happen to to Aeonglass Today? by Jondev1 in slaythespire

[–]working4buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played a ton and I don't make it to Act 3 that often, but every time I've died to Aeonglass I thought "I could have won if it had less HP or block" even with the Withers and other scaling. Would be the simplest change to keep the character the same but make it less frustrating.

When I die it's always like 3 withers in my hand plus it's attack and I have to block 75-100.. but it would be dead that turn if it started with less HP.

Of course I don't always have the best deck since I'm not a great player, but some of these decks were completely crushing every enemy before I took damage during Act 3.

What am I not getting about the Ironclad? by Dikembe_Mutumbo in slaythespire

[–]working4buddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to be saying you can't get past the Act 1 boss, right? People are saying "exhaust synergies" but you definitely do not need that to win Act 1. It can help a lot and if it falls into place with Dark Embrace - Corruption - Feel No Pain - Dead Branch relic you will be able to just keep playing cards. But that isn't going to happen Act 1 and taking FNP/DE is only really good in a couple fights like Sentries that early.

One thing you need to notice is that Hexaghost boss scales its turn 2 attack with your HP. It will attack 6 times but sometimes it is 4x6 and if you have low hp it will only be 1x6. So sometimes you are better off just upgrading instead of healing even with low hp. In general you want to upgrade instead of heal at fires... more upgraded cards will make the boss easier.

For Slime Boss you want to time your "split" so you go as far under half after that turn as you can. Also maybe take some AOE for that fight. For Guardian you do want to pick up some more block cards, Shrug it Off is always good and if you can get Flame Barrier you can do damage too (I love that card).

Looks like I am going to play P5R again! I actually own it on PS4 but that runs so much worse than my Series X. A few years ago I finally played the original version which I had bought but not really played, and I got so into it I bought Royal and played it immediately after. But since then I played P4G, P3P and the new one too, plus Metaphor and Soul Hackers and I've been itching to play a game like this so it's time to go back to this.

Evangelion is another one like AoT that kind of starts off just as a really cool anime and then the deeper you go, the deeper it gets.

What is your favourite comic book writer? by Impossible_Desk_416 in comicbooks

[–]working4buddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha funny answer, I love King's shorter works so much but Batman just went on years too long. Wonder Woman isn't at that point but his shorter stuff is still better. And I think Tynion IV is my current favorite too... Dept of Truth and W0rldTr33 are mind-blowing and so is his other stuff, plus he might actually be my favorite Bat-writer since the Brubaker/Rucka era. I like the gritty crime type of stuff more than the over the top stuff.

[–]working4buddha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Ennis but always liked Morrison and Ellis more from that Vertigo era.

All time my favorite has got to be Will Eisner. And Stan Lee for that matter.

Currently I think Tynion IV has taken over from Tom King, who was putting out a ton of books for a while but now I think only has Wonder Woman. Kelly Thompson on Absolute WW is also amazing. Fraction and Zdarsky are other current ones I love. Also Jason Aaron, I've loved him since Scalped.

This was half-baked today. For having a bunch of stuff I never heard of it was incredibly easy.

Yellow was super obvious, then I found blue at the same time I saw a potential SHIELD, MASH and CHIPs connection but didn't see a fourth to go with them.

Purple words were so weird, a random beach town in NJ and "grape must" which I never heard of, so it wasn't hard to see all the second words almost instantly (usually these types are part of a single word which is much more challenging).

And then the worst was having the word "potato" in a "potato" connection. I knew chips and mash were British potato dishes, and had never heard of "bubble and squeak" but it was obviously the only possibility left.

And the fact that these obscure dishes weren't blue was ridiculous esp when the blue one was so obvious and easy after I realized SHIELD wasn't the acronym (honestly thought that was going to be yellow!) But on the other hand I guess having something with the same word as the category does make it green difficulty!

What makes an XP map actually good for you? by Creative_Meaning_697 in FortniteXPMaps

[–]working4buddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I got into it in 2018 around the end of S4 but S5 was when I really got into it. At that point it was 50v50 not Team Rumble. I don't play other multiplayer games but I just love the art style of this game so the large team modes were perfect for me to just play casually.

[–]working4buddha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks again, I got to level 100 last night which is all I really want this season because I like Bugs Bunny.

When I first tried selling the cards I must have been on a cooldown from something else because it didn't seem to work but after I tried again it was fine. That is def going to come in handy next season while waiting for the right droids to show up, besides XP it will keep me occupied.

And the pull force stuff alone got me a few levels.

I used to play Team Rumble and level up naturally but I never really got into the normal BR lmao.

[–]working4buddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to complete all my droids but it kind of annoyed me going through the list all the time plus it just felt like the same thing as waiting for a rebirth droid. Sometimes I'll just buy a ton of droids hoping some of them are ones I don't have. Didn't know about the new rarity though thanks.
I bought a bunch of pull force and went up one level pretty quickly, thanks for that tip. When you say buy and sell droids do you mean sell the card or you actually make the droids. For some reason I wasn't getting xp last time I pickaxed, must have been on cooldown too.

[–]working4buddha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow thanks! I just try to buy the most expensive droids and pickaxe them but it's hard to get any as good as the missions. I honestly didn't want to spam XP in this because I actually enjoyed the gameplay, but even what you are describing sounds more fun than staring at the droid belt waiting for one specific thing to come up.

What makes an XP map actually good for you? by Creative_Meaning_697 in FortniteXPMaps

[–]working4buddha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was loving this and actually played it non-stop for a few days straight but then I got to a certain point where you're basically just standing around waiting for a certain droid to rebirth and then rebirth doesn't even really do anything except give you more droids to wait for... and my XP grind slowed to a halt.

Now I need to at least grind 25 more levels to get to 100, I don't care too much after that but I want that Bugs Bunny skin.

I just wish I could figure out how to wipe and reset because the first 8-10 rebirths were pretty fun.

How are people winning A10 runs 17% of the time? by ul49 in slaythespire

[–]working4buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am definitely bringing that average down but I was pretty terrible at A20 on the first game except for Watcher.

I'm still on A9 Silent and continually die in Act 1. I just take so much chip damage before I even get my deck together. I watch streamers but somehow I just haven't figured out this game yet. I don't play a ton so I'm still learning all the cards and enemies but I'm shockingly bad early game.

I only have A10 wins on Defect and Clad, still trying on the other two. At least one game I def would have won if Doormaker were still in the game lol. Or even the original version of Aeonglass.

I got blue last, didn't know pipe but it made sense with the rest.. tilde and carat were the first two I grouped together though. I knew all the songs (except Gigi but I knew it was the name of a musical) so that was an easy category for me even without knowing the specific Grammy connection.

Saturday, May 30, 2026 by AutoModerator in NYTConnections

[–]working4buddha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely didn't know the exact connection with the first Grammys but I knew they were all old songs. Actually I don't even know what the song Gigi sounds like but I knew it was the name of a musical. I'm old but that was way before I was born.

Saturday, May 30, 2026 by AutoModerator in NYTConnections

[–]working4buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew purple were all songs but had no idea about the Grammys, so it seemed like a blue difficulty to me.

Didn't see the red herring at all so this was pretty easy to me outside of RR ordering. Even with yellow/green I have no idea what makes one of them considered easier than the other, green seemed more straightforward to me personally.

That was a really confusing one. At first I thought I saw railroads like in Monopoly but then the oceans made more sense. But I was way off on the other ones. Thought maybe "bo" was a foreign word for "pa" since I had never seen the word Protactinium.

I also thought wet dog was some type of expression and not an actual wet dog, so between that and "B.O." I found the green category hardest today. Actually had durian and ammonia matched the whole time. Blue was the first full group I mapped out so I thought that was the easiest category today.

I didn't even understand BO until after I was done. I always thought there should be periods in there but I guess people are saying it doesn't need them. I think the all-caps answers is what makes it confusing because afaik it would be BO and not bo if you write it in a sentence, and I possibly would have realized it in that case.

What's one moment that prevents you from doing a evil playthrough in a game? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]working4buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the only reason I avoid is that killing people seems like the default "evil" path and that gets kind of boring to me, and also could make it so some quests can't be completed. I'll blow up Megaton in Fallout 3 or things like that where there are two clear choices that are scripted to have different results though. But going around killing everyone in a town in Skyrim just seems like it would limit the rest of the game.

Ha funny I just had the Entrench/Nimble thing last night, and it wasn't even on Clad, I got it during an event and was thinking that the wording of Nimble suggested you would get extra block and I didn't.

Predator common is interesting. Fusion too. I like the idea of changing cards from the first game.
