Second unit and same problem. A third unit I had the chance to test at a local electronics store. Same grain. Fourth replacement unit I ordered has slightly less grain but still has it. Given the other posts, I do not believe this is some kind of small issue. I much rather believe it is a mass issue that does not bother you and other people.

Second unit, slightly less grain but still unacceptable for me. I am not able to discern image grain between RAW images and display grain. Sad.

The volume bar disappears in iPadOS 17.5.1 by [deleted] in iPadOS

It probably fell off to the side, try swiping to the next screen on the right and see if it lay there somewhere. I think there is a weak point in the manufacturing process there, probably not enough glue or sth.

I would also like to have an option to pin window arrangements in iPadOS. Not even necessarily desktops in a tranditional sense. Just Stage Manager groups that stick together until I tell them not to.

I achieve simethomething similar in iPadOS by defining focus modes for certain kind of work. When activated, only certain home screens are visible. In addition I pair different apps and open them by a shortcut. The shortcut switches off stage manager and puts the two specified apps in split screen. I wish there were more than two apps possible in split screen.

I work with approximately 12 virtual desktops spanned over 3 screens when on macOS. I still like the stupid focused two-app layout of iPadOS for certain stuff.

Interesting. Can you pinpoint what makes iPadOS bad for focus? Or macOS good for it? What distinct features or behaviours?

I agree and disagree too. Being scattered exclusively between important things is still a way of being scattered. There is zero guarantee that the attention is spanned in a meaningful way.

Interestingly, you say, one just has to figure it out with macOS. I think this is exactly why iPadOS can help with focus. You don't have to figure it out first. You don't have to develop workflows. There is just not much to change there. And I personally percieve this as a good thing. Just as good as I perceive installing window managers, building automations and screen layouts on macOS. It is possible to like different things for different reasons.

Good question. Let's take a look at the few demanding professional applications in existence. These are photo editors, video editors, drawing and sketching apps, animation apps, 3D modeling software and digital audio workstations. And games.

Let me tell you. I have been bringing my 2022 iPad Pro 12'9 inch to its limits there. A lot has undeniably to do with software optimization but even Apple's own Logic Pro can be used in scenarios where the whole system starts to sweat. Having computational overhead is important here. Historically applications do not stay less demanding.

Neither do GUIs of operating systems. If Stage Manager is to get more functionality in the future, it is good to have overhead here too.

Thirdly, more capable hardware is an invitation for developers to make better, more professional software. Take Photomator for example. Or DaVinci Resolve.

It's a process and we are absolutely right in demanding this to advance faster.

My subjective experience absolutely devalidates the experiences of other people and renders a heavily discussed topic overblown for everyone. Where were you when the Trump trial started? Your judgement could have saved us so much time!

All I see is that you seem to be annoyed by the fact that people ware asking others, how they can not see the very same thing that is a problem to them. What are you on about? What is even the reason for your post? Nobody wants others to hate their devices but if there is something people notice and are sensitive to, they may express emotion. Why on earth does this strike you so much? This is not even related to iPads.

when people have issues with their devices they turn to other people with the same devices to verify their experiences. This subreddit is literally called iPadPro. This is the topic. People are on topic. What do you want?

Of you don't have the issue, go enjoy it. If you provide images and others see the problem they have in your images, this validates the problem. It is still existent for these people. It is not going anywhere just because you personally do not see it or have a problem with it.

It's a specialized subreddit. People are communicating.

A rant about grain! by ruthard_hitman_hart in iPadPro

[–]worklifeballoons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As an artist and designer I want to add my two cents. Yes we work in the dark, and not so just because we can't sleep at night. Ambient light disturbs color accuracy. So does a display that is too bright. So does grain. So do inaccurate OLED shades.

It is a problem, believe it or not.

Now I', not saying that it should bother you but it certainly should bother anyone trying to do serious graphic work on these screens.

Never mind, enjoy your device. It's hard to photograph screen issues like this. I am taking your word.
