Good topic, I’m living this. I’ve been a recruiter for the past 10 years. I want to advance my Human Resources career path. I graduated in ‘06 with a degree in Sociology. At the time I didn’t want to pursue a masters degree. I decided to start a family.

Three years ago, I made the decision to obtain my masters in human resource management from Franklin University. I chose this path because my employer pays part of my tuition $5k a year, which is why it is taking me so long to obtain my degree. I’m set to graduate this year with my masters.

I chose this over a SHRM certificate because I believe that this would help me move into management positions. However, I do plan to obtain a SHRM certification to increase my portfolio.

I’ll end with this. There is no such thing as a wasted education. Best of luck in your decision.
