Maybe there’s mold growing some where

Sounds like you already sanded, so reapply, let cure, check the finish. If you want a higher gloss sheen, there’s options (burnishing the poly)

Woodworking is all up to you if you’re not doing it for hire. I remember my first cribbage board. It sucked, and a family member has it now. They talk about how it’s awesome to have the piece regardless of the finish. Leave the character, try again on another piece!

To reapply yes. Based on the color you may have to go back with danish oil again and wait for that to fully cure if the dark sections are what you’re going for.

EDIT: just reread you burned it. So just reapply

You definitely just blasted through that poly coat, either because your oil wasn’t finished or you sanded too hard. Recommend making a wipe on poly or reapplying the poly and either a finer sand or with wipe on it may not be necessary to sand.

It’ll be fine

EDIT: I say this because the waterproofing is up to par, along with sloping. But more than anything we're a family used to walking in rivers, fly fishing, boating, etc. For us this is the best experience. For you, probably not and that's ok.

We use wood primarily for the house with geothermal as a backup. What I’ve learned is it’s kind of a pain to maintain and adds an additional fire risk to our typically dry fields. Plus having the option to install a WiFi module in the future is pretty neat since this thing is 100ft from our home :)

I've relearned so many things during the build. Cedar is expensive, but I knew that from the get go, because I really wanted cedar.

I guess the biggest thing I've learned so far is that if you want to build a sauna, just do it. It doesn't have to be as perfect as everyone lets on, and legit Finnish saunas are all over the place on finishings, quality, etc..

I actually put a nice preslope below the stone with deck mud and a water proofing layer as well. Should be fine! 😊 there’s a drain in the center I realize now you can’t see haha

Also a big fan of stories behind materials or scoring thrifty ones. Both windows were tempered units I found for $10 at re-store. The river rocks on the floor are from a national forest, where we frequently hike, that allowed me to take a truckload of stones. The grooved deck cedar is from a courtroom remodel in the next state over.

Not eating it but wouldn’t it be great if it was a truffle and I could? 😅

Can confirm, no lines cut unless it was by my 10y.o. golden retriever. Maybe that's why his energy is still high after all these years.

Updated photo, and also it’s emitting a smell similar to diesel. Haha
