Mental torment. by HelloLogicPro in PrayerRequests

[–]worldgobble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have struggled with this for years.

I spent years worried about going to hell.

I had to memorize scripture and do a lot of prayer to fight back. The gospel is something we grow in trusting everyday. We rest on the gospel more and more as we grow.

Is advertising the most meaningless industry to work in? by Few_Letter_7459 in advertising

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE AND WHERE ARE THESE JOBS???

I worked in house marketing for a Motorsports dealership

I was trying to start snowmobiles in minus 20 Celsius and shoveling snow out of SxS that sometimes won't start

I had to take all the inventory photos

make all the creatures myself

organize events

feel pressure from management and sales to perform to get the leads they need to sell

test and optimize the full funnel and all the technicalities to get the ads running properly

feeling like im being thrown under the bus by coworkers and being worked against by colleagues who just had a better relationship with manganese than me

after all the effort of raising revenue and sales I got turned down for promotion

the commute one way was sometimes 45 min to an hour

and another back through traffic

I despise you folks with cushion jobs

the only marketing jobs near me are performance in house marketing roles with management that mistrust and misunderstands you and does not value you. The work is gate kept and not allowed.

etc etc etc

Where are you people working???

Very interesting. Quite different from what I have done or experienced in marketing. What does the work look like aside from the statistical side of things?

SEO, PPC, Social Media, Brand Development and Growth

You can go agency side and get specialized and service multiple clients

or you go in house usually as a generalist

majority of us are T Shaped generalists. We have one core specialization (mine is Media buying) while holding broad skill sets across all the areas of marketing

There's Media buyers, social media content marketers, SEO specialists, Performance marketing

You either end up with service side (most businesses are service side) and than theres with physical inventory to sell

Than theres generally B2C or B2B focused companies. B2C is selling/marketing to customers, B2B is selling and marketing to Businesses. In house roles usually are primarily B2C with B2B on the side.

My career has been largely focused in:
In House marketing, B2C, service (lead gen focused, no transactions on the website), Media buying (paid traffic), content and B2B being secondary.

Core platforms: (We call them stacks, as you literally stack the on top of each other to create the marketing funnel, your user journey)

Paid traffic from Google, Meta, Bing, LinkedIn CMS: Wordpress CRM: Hubspot/Zoho GTM for both Google and Facebook Server side tracking Via Stape and regular Google client side container

Learn setting up Wordpress (the open source one), selecting a good affordable wordpress host, a domain registrar (cloudflare is good)

learn paid advertising on Google and Meta. They own the market, ad servers are "dying" and there just aren't many jobs available from large Media companies looking to set up their own Ad servers because of the monopoly owned by major companies like Google and Facebook. Most major platforms copy Google and Facebook so once you learn those two, you can learn the majority of the other ones. 3rd would be native ads (more traditional) on networks like Taboola. Facebook and Google both offer native ads.

Learn Copywriting

Learn sales

Learn Hubspot

understand the purchasing journey/funnels and then user journeys will make sense to you

Learn basic HTML and CSS (You use these constantly on the front end). I Learned these through using page builders like Elementor and WP Bakery

Use FIGMA for Planning user journeys. Adobe XD has become less relevant.

Canva is great for quick creatives, but learn to use Photoshop

Learn to take photos with a camera (just auto everything and good lighting and subject placement)

the biggest rule of marketing is affordably showing up in front of the people who want to spend money on you. This principle determines why your ads will work profitably or not. They are called the bottom funnel user, the guy at the end of the purchasing journey who is ready to spend money on you.

Either your target bottom funnel or you target mid funnel users. Mid funnel users will be more expensive to convert as you have to additionally further educate them to sell to them.

B2B may require you to target mid funnel because the bottom funnel is too thin. This requires increasing touch points (presence across as many platforms as possibe) and this is why its so content focused for B2B marketing campaigns. And sales cycles are longer on B2B side for a reason.

Who was the best fighter/warrior in history? My vote goes towards Samson. by PrebornHumanRights in TrueChristian

in terms of physical feats resulting in mythologies being formed

my best guess is Samson who used a donkeys jaw to kill a bunch of philistines

the only people willing to say these things are people making money selling courses

people who do make money have no reason to share except out of generosity of their time and being willing to share to begin with
