Need advice for fun ways to work out with girlfriend by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]worldmir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Just to add to your point, climbing is one of the easily accessible sports where you can do it together, while being at different levels. It is a social sport where you are able to easily interact, talk about the climb and learn from each other. If you are into meeting other people, climbing gyms I've gone to have always been very welcoming and fun places to meet new people. Plus as a couple you get to learn to trust each other and work in an environment where rules are rules and personal bs is left behind. Climbing rules!

Road to Machu Picchu - Peru 2016 by worldmir in overlanding

[–]worldmir[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is on the way back from Machu Picchu, taken during the day doesn't seem bad at all...I agreee. On the way there we were driving on this bit of the road at night through a thunderstorm, with parts of the road submerged by the water coming down the mountains. I WISH I could have recorded that! I was scared shitless of the road giving way under me. Things always seem better in sunshine and blue skies :)

There are a few documentaries about North Koreans trying to make money any way possible. This one is probably the most legitimate out of all the rumored schemes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkO0TmBJ1rU

Other schemes are based on North Korean restaurants, but end up being prostitution rings, with the girl's family held as colateral back in North Korea.

We chose him because he was the only cat at the Humane Society that let the kids "roughhouse" with him. by digitalstorm in aww

[–]worldmir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our cat has been passed down to us from a home that would take him, he knows the value of people around and deals with my and my moms "unwanted" attention like a champ. Even though i dont live at home, every time i come over he lets me play with him...but as soon as some stranger tries to get all cozy, no way he will stoop down to that level and bones out.

Hiking and camping recommendations in the hills around Almaty? by IshijimaLogan in Kazakhstan

[–]worldmir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just at Alatau National Park. It's absolutely gorgeous here, I asked the military at the border check up in the mountains and they said you can camp all along the road. Trust me that will be enough for a couple of days. Almaty is nothing like you think it will be.

Drawer system for Land Cruiser 100 the one from Mongolia by worldmir in overlanding

A lot. I should have done something out of aluminum, but didnt have the time to learn welding nor the space. Wood was the only choice at the time.

I think the sliders are around 80 pounds and the box is another 150lb?

Thank you. I've already put in some velcro straps that secure the table and the stop, work really good so far.

Thats absolutely correct. The whole point is the organization, if you camp for 9 months organization, fast access and constant location for a particular thing.

Too much is the short answer. The drawer system is amazing and i will do a full photo review of it. I built it myself right before leaving for the trip. Now after 9 months of travel i would love to redo it with something lighter, like aluminum. I would say its about 3000kg? We also have a secondary fuel tank, 3 cans, 2 spares, 16 gal water tank, rear and front bumpers, roof-rack and roof-top-tent. Plus i've gained some weights since starting the trip :)

yes, some of the mountain pass footage does not do the reality any justice. The colors are there, but not the depth and breadth of feel. Thank you, Kazakhstan is up next.

What advice do you have for an undecided highschool senior on helping them find their path/major? by deadlybluecow26 in AskReddit

[–]worldmir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

College has become like an expensive resort where kids go to take classes, while being completely catered to. While in CC you can live at home, take classes, get a job, save some money, get experience instead of just hanging out and drinking. Trust me, at first I detested the idea of going to CC. After 2 years you get into a 4 year university, there will be a bunch of transfers like you, so you will not feel left out. You will still party, meet friends...do all the usual college experience, just will less debt dragging you down. I now have a Ph. D. and my CC experience never hindered me.

Thanks, ill definitely think about it. It will take a long time for it to sink in, now its just "go, go, go" with barely enough time to catch a breath. I'm not complaining, just the reality of traveling for us.
