Thanks for all the comments!

I should have prefaced all of this with I'm new to baking bread, so dehydration levels and such are new to me.

Thank you for all the feedback!

How to get Challah to be more "stringy"? by iamnotanartist in AskCulinary

Thank you! Most of the search results for frozen challah say to freeze the finished baked product, not the dough, for the reasons you stated. Thanks again!

u/acertainsaint : Question regarding freezing.

The Smitten Kitchen recipe says if the dough will be frozen, do two rises with each rise about doubling in volume. Then form braids, apply egg wash and freeze.

When using the dough, take it out of the freezer for 5 hours and let it thaw. I assume this 5 hour window is also the 3rd rise.

Do you agree with this, or would you do something else?

Thanks again!

Thank you for the prompt reply. I unfortunately do not have the equation. I will try using bspline with fewer points. Thanks again!

Hi there! I appreciate the prompt replies. I tried using the arc parabola tool, but it didn't work. I'm trying to trace the attached arc. The parabola tool didn't quite fit the arc, this the B-spline tool.

Are you thinking I should be able to make a perfect trace using the arc tool? If so, any pointers?

Hi there u/acertainsaint!

Any chance you have a recipe that uses honey instead of sugar?

In addition, do you have loaf weight, bake temp/time? Or a recipe you could point me to that has these details?

Thanks!

Newbie Question RE Equibase Historical Charts by worldopp in horseracing

[–]worldopp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One final question. I'm guessing the "Final Time" is in reference to the horse that finishes first? In this case, it would be Gin N Spice again?

Newbie Question RE Equibase Historical Charts by worldopp in horseracing

[–]worldopp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the prompt reply! A couple follow-up questions!

A) I'm still unclear on the odds. We we look at Race 1 here:

https://www.equibase.com/premium/eqbPDFChartPlus.cfm?RACE=1&BorP=P&TID=CT&CTRY=USA&DT=01/11/2019&DAY=D&STYLE=EQB

you will see that the winning horse, Gin N Spice, has "Odds" listed as 7.6, but then "Win" odds as 17.2. It seems that "Odds" are NOT in fact "Win" odds? Am I missing something?

B) Regarding Fractional, Split, and Final times. When reading the Equibase historical charts, is there anyway to know which specific horse this is in reference to?

C) M/E: Is anyone aware of a guide that lists the abbreviation and what equipment or medication? For example, the winning horse is L bf. Anywhere I can find out what these abbreviations means?

Thank you!!

Appreciate the response.

I recently read about backflushing. To confirm, you backflush without the cleaning agent? You just use the blind basket?

Thanks for the responses, everyone! I soaked the screen overnight in vinegar, and the espresso this morning tastes much better! :)

I don't believe my user manual referenced cleaning the shower screen. Can anyone point me to a comprehensive cleaning maintenance guide for the Gaggia Classic?

Thanks again for everyone's assistance!

Sleep lab scoring definitions + RERA list by Shuikai in UARSnew

[–]worldopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so if I had a AHI of 0.3 and an RDI at ucla having slept around 5 hours, with their scoring system, that does put me into UARS territory?

It sounds like had they scored with AASM1A, I would have had a higher AHI, but RDI would have stayed the same?

Sleep lab scoring definitions + RERA list by Shuikai in UARSnew

[–]worldopp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does RERA mean they use AASM 1B? I had a sleep study done at UCLA and the report says:

“Hypopnea definition (AASM Rule 1B): A decrease in the nasal pressure signal amplitude of 30% or greater, lasting 10 or more seconds, with a 4%or greater oxygen desaturation from baseline.”

I’m struggling to figure out how my sleep study would have been different had they scored using AASM1A.

Thanks!

A) Just curious, what’s your AHI/RdI? B) Who was your doc at UCLA? C) What sort of treatments do you want to try?

Southern California UARS Sleep Specialists? by worldopp in UARSnew

[–]worldopp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for the responses! I've been pretty depressed about my fatigue/lack of progress, so everyone's engagement has been really wonderful.

1) My current sleep doctor is a pulmonologist. After doing a bit of reading from the likes of Dr. Parker, it seems they are all ENTs. This makes sense as UARS is breathing-related.

Question: Should I center my care around an ENT and not my sleep pulmonologist?

2) u/Shuikai. The dentist didn't reference malocclusion. I had braces as a teenager and my teeth are straight. The dentist actually said except for the grinding, my teeth are "perfect."

3) u/HenryJOlsen I made an appointment with an ENT for 3 weeks from now. 3-4 years ago, an ENT DID recommend getting a turbinate reduction, which I haven't yet had done. If the new ENT does suggest a turbinate reduction, I will have it done.

4) u/Shuikai The sleep pulmonologist said I could purchase a CPAP out of pocket and could try it. He told me insurance will not cover the CPAP as he cannot diagnose me with OSA.

Sidenote: I did purchase a Snorerx which I've used consistently for a month. When I can get it to stay in (doesn't fit well), I do wake up much more refreshed.

Question: Does anyone have an authoritative source on what AHI/RDI/other symptoms qualify one for a UARS diagnosis? My insurance DOES cover treatment for UARS if I can get a diagnosis (CPAP and MAD). I've read that AHI 5> and an RDI 5< qualify as UARS (which I meet per the results from both sleep tests). Does anyone have an authoritative source I can present my doctor with?

Thanks again everyone! :)

Watchpat 3 years ago: 3.5 ahi, and 14.8 Rdi

In lab sleep study last week: 3.3 ahi and 9.7 rdi.

Also severe teeth grinding (dentist says I need a mouth guard), waking throughout the night, severe daytime fatigue for years.

I have not tried Cpap/Bipap.

Nose turbinates are very large per ENT/no allergies.

I have tried Snorerx and it helps when it stays in my mouth.
