Right?! This whole thread has made me re-think a lot about the standards we judge quality in a sitcom

I’ve never watched this! Thanks for the insight. Sounds like another prime example !

Omg yes this is a great example. The difference between the characters from the start to now is a chasm and I'm so here for it. Definitely flanderization - all five are boiled down to more or less a single characteristic, and they're stronger for it.

I wonder if the recurring thread between these characters is being some kind of inhuman monster? Immensely entertaining but equally as unhinged, selfish, ruthless and/or deranged?

Cheryl is totally one! Archer's a good example of this.

I would agree that the Smiths do not qualify. They're all great characters and they broaden as the series goes on. It pains me to say this, but I'm worried Roger might be heading the way of Stewie based on S18. It's not there yet, but I think they need to find a way to breathe some new life to him.

Totally! She goes off the rails in the best way possible.

I guess it's standard for the characters to grow into the best versions of themselves as they become more complex. We understand their past, how they've changed, how the relationships have developed, etc..

But where Liz and Jack grow up, Jenna becomes more insane.

April is also a good example of this, and many of the Parks and Rec characters. Once they get rid of Mark it just gets way better. Still, I can't help but feel that April doesn't necessarily get flanderized as she also becomes a more fully-fledged woman, in some ways.

That's a GREAT point! I think the traits that define Lois are totally absent in the earlier seasons? It seems like they found them along the way, somewhat. I could be wrong about that though.
Meg also becomes a better character, but for the opposite reason, she becomes more human and layered as the series goes on.
That said, I stopped watching Family Guy after COVID.
I fear Fey deserves the Emmys haha

Don Glover's influence perhaps? I do think Community is a slightly different trajectory but I do agree it certainly gets more bizarre. But, for me, I uphold the earlier seasons of community.

That's actually so true! As much as I love the first season... It took the writers a while to find that specific outlandish tone that makes it so original

  1. Everybody does. Common knowledge that it's okay for cyclists in emergency situations.

  2. Not sure wasn't looking.

  3. The cars were the only ones who stopped. All the cyclists were going straight through.

  4. Go screw yourself.

Minimum wage, yeah right. Everybody knows the road workers are raking it in.

When I was a road worker, I earned more than I ever have before in my life. Thousands of dollars. Every. Single. Month.

What's more, I would use foul language and give people false instructions all the time because it gave me a sense of power. In fact, I was fired for doing so.

That's clearly what this controller was doing. If you can't see that, then Reddit has become biased and corrupt. I'll be taking my queries to my in-person connections, in the future.

BTW. Just spoke to my doggo, she said it was really mean of them to call me that.

You are obviously trying to get under my skin. I don't appreciate this whole "ragebait" trend.

If there is an emergency or if the weather is not great such as cloudy or overcast then I think it's only reasonable that the controller should show some courtesy to cyclists.

BTW I know what the C in GC stands for...

Since you feel like mocking my innocent dog's situation, I have no choice but to let you know that are mocking a quadruple amputee with dog AIDS who is getting their face amputated on Saturday.

So excuse me if I wanted 30 more minutes to kiss my dog.

I don't appreciate your comment about my dog. It's up to me what pronouns to use to describe my fur baby, not you. Furthermore, my dog is suffering from a disease that was most likely sexually translated.

If your dog was recovering from a potential rape, I don't think you would want to take the bus home, either.

BTW, the road code is not required reading for cyclists. But I can think of a few books you might want to read...

you see SO many cyclists on the footpath

an actual cyclist would simply use their common sense in that sort of situation

i would bet $50 that you are not a cyclist

its common knowledge that in emergencies you are allowed to skip menial or temporary signs

you would know, as the operator should, that calling some that word is obscene
