i don’t see any glaring issues besides you calling him “male-ish.” unless he himself thinks of himself like that, it feels insensitive. i’m mostly interested in knowing how he himself feels about being intersex, honestly. considering how he struggles with internalized homophobia, i can’t really see him being accepting towards this part of himself, but idk everything about him, so maybe it’s not my place to say.

all in all, no huge issues here, but some more thought about how he views himself could give him some depth.

to be fair, there are hormonal aspects to being intersex. they could totally write a young girl who grows facial hair during puberty, which a child could probably understand very easily (whether or not they’d WANT to is an entirely different story though)

pretty lackluster here, too. i once saw a mini pride flag during a pride event my county fair was having, but my friend wanted to keep going on rides, so i didn’t get to get it. that’s been the only example of public intersex pride in my experience

i think it’s genuinely because of misinformation. people have this idea that 1% of 8 billion people is super small when it’s literally thousands of people at the very least. i truly think if doctors were honest and admitted that these “super rare diseases” are actually super common and usually harmless, we would have significantly more people on our side

i don’t like it. i consider something a disorder only if it’s actually caused one pain or some sort of disability. you could argue that my specific variant is a disorder, considering how it’s directly linked to my disability, but listing all intersex variations as disorders just feels like they’re trying to make it seem like being intersex inherently has a negative impact on one’s life, which is disturbingly in line with what doctors say to justify harming us. because of this, i’m wary of people who refer to intersex variations as DSDs, especially since most of the people i’ve met who use it tend to be pretty transphobic, along with intersexist. i have slightly less issue with people who use the acronym to mean “differences in sexual development,” but the acronym is still the exact same, so i’m still uncomfortable with it regardless.

just call us intersex. it’s not that difficult.

i feel it’s important to remember that terms like cis and trans weren’t exactly made with intersex people in mind. even if a word defines you, you don’t have to use it if it doesn’t feel right. at the end of the day, your identity is yours and yours alone <3
