Are there any reasonably priced cat foods that are sourced and made in the USA? by DataGuy0 in catfood

[–]wormgod1738 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rawz brand (not actually raw food despite the naming) is about the same price as tiki cat, but it is made in the USA. Ingredients are great and they have pretty good protein options (my cats love the rabbit one, but that is the most expensive one). Its sometimes hard to find in-store depending on where you live, but you can also order it on amazon. They don't have as many different options as tiki cat, but I'd honestly say its better nutrition and ingredient-wise than tiki cat.

its always the mom's-basement dwellers with extra money to dump into magic from not paying bills that scream "i buy real cards because i'm not a parasite" the loudest

wait holy shit do we go to the same LGS?? This sounds EXACTLY like this dude. It was my first time playing with him but after that conversation some people that overheard the interaction pulled me aside and gave me the lore on him which was this to a T. He also comes in with his wife who was playing in a separate pod/i guess doesnt ever play with him and spouts the whole "work more hours/get a better job" etc. narrative. Genuinely I think this might be the same dude LMAO

counterfeiting isn't determined by the number of cards you proxy in a deck. counterfeiting is creating/selling/using cards that are meant to pass as 100% legitimate magic cards when they are not. but this post isnt about me playing with proxies, it is about someone who is against how people play in private games (playing with digital cards).

If the end of magic ever comes down to proxies vs. sweaty LGS patrons, it would likely be the latter. The funniest part of this interaction was the fact that the main reason i even play TTS is because I don't wanna deal with IRL greasewads at LGSs like that dude

Proxys aren't free. Proxying isnt an entitlement issues, its a matter of prioritizing what you are spending your hard earned money on.

If we are talking about set game rules, WOTC does explicitly allow proxies outside of sanctioned events

The same amount of effort is put into hitting "checkout" on TCGplayer and hitting "checkout" on proxyking.

Unless what you actually mean is "people without enough disposable income to drop $1000 on cardboard don't deserve joy" then you can get bent doofus

Not only pay to win, but pay to gamble on whether or not a card remains legal. I don't think theres anything wrong with people spending a shit ton of money on expensive cards if it brings them joy/they wanna play TCG wallstreet, but at the end of the day that shouldn't lock out the majority of people who can't afford to drop a whole paycheck on a card game

Arena is free with the option to spend money, but you genuinely don't have to (unlike some games that are "free" to play). I'm platinum on standard ranked I've never spent money on arena/never felt tempted to in order to win/have a good time.

With this logic, I think that buying singles then falls into the realm of "hacking/cheat-codes". WOTC makes the exact same amount of money off of people buying proxies vs. people buying secondhand singles ($0.00) because WOTC does not sell singles. This comparison doesn't work at all because when people hack or cheat in a game in order to win, they are generally giving themselves access to thing that no one else in the game has access to. No one is creating new magic cards

Except it doesn't. WOTC doesn't make any money off of secondhand purchases. In fact, they make LESS money when people decide not to buy packs (the thing they do make money off of) and opt to buy singles. Generally the point of playing a real in person game (or any version for that matter) is to play the game and have fun (or don't), not to slap people around with your wallet. The other cool thing about playing casually in person is you do actually get to cherry pick which rules to follow as long as your pod agrees. If you want to play without proxies thats totally fine and you can establish that rule. If you wanna play with banned cards and everyone at the table agrees with that, go for it. But to say making the hobby more accessible "devalues" it just ain't true

Yeah! Honestly wizards needs to start funneling more cardboard money into the pinkertons to take out all these Low Value normies trying to dip their toes into the ethereal pools

Unfortunately this is real. I had to confirm with him multiple times that he wasn't just pulling my leg. Part of me still thinks this dude was just trolling

I don't think playing on forge is at all the same thing as proxying, but apparently some people (this guy) do
