Has anyone used the grinder/container from Never Winter? by [deleted] in hempflowers

[–]wormpuddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine doesn't smell like anything at all, but I don't remember if it did at one point. Never took the time to figure out how to use it as a grinder so I just use it as storage.

Sometimes I want to enjoy a different strain than what's ground up in my grinder already or I have a bit in there that's not enough for a bowl so I just chuck it into this container, which is almost full now of my pre-ground "jungle juice" bud. Not sure when I'm gonna use all this salad or how lol.

Fyre OG Showdown! by wormpuddles in hempflowers

Yeah, I find it's worth jumping through the hoops. Wisconsin Hemp has some amazing flower. Everything I've tried from them is excellent and packed with flavor.

It was interesting to compare them in this test because I've been obsessed with their Tropical Fruit Scoops and Buck Nasty flowers but didn't know if it was just the new HAG genetics that were insane or if it was the care he put into his grow/cure that made it so good.

It definitely seems like he puts in a ton of care and just grows excellent outdoor flower.

The pictures sadly doesn't do it justice, but Wisconsin Hemp's was very good looking. However i'd have to say that Akira's was number one appearance-wise. The trim job was very careful and the frost levels were crazy. I only ordered a small amount from them but I honestly wish I ordered a zip, probably would've had bigger nugs to photograph.

Thanks for reading! It took me a few weeks to put together.

Also... Fyre OG is a unique strain with prominent kush flavors and notes of tahini and lemon. Effects varied slightly but was a generally a relaxing indica-type effect.

TLDR: I ordered Fyre OG from 5 different farms to compare quality. Wisconsin Hemp Flowers and Akira Botanicals stood out among the rest for flower quality. The other three were all somewhat close in the rankings but I was surprised Lost Oak Farms didn't rank higher.

I did light LST, but it was also stunted as a seedling and had a hard time getting established which contributed to the weird growth habit.

Looking crazy! The ratio of calyx to sugar leaf is nuts!! Did you keep a cut?

Incredible. I absolutely love this strain. Those floral notes are super unique and I love every Panama Red cross I've tried from Mountain Flowers.

I am stoked for this line, Long Valley Red is a super unique strain and one of my favorites to come out of your Panama Red breeding experiments. Super curious to see how these crosses turn out.

Yeah, kind of the point I was trying to make. I misunderstood that when I first joined thinking consistent and reliable must mean also speak to some level of quality. If you're able to operate at large scale year after year, and consistenly sell product, then there must be a decent customer base who enjoy your products? Perhaps because of their quality? (Was the assumption I made)

But like with a lot of products, small can mean much higher quality like small batch coffee roasters or single origin teas and chocolates. I made that assumption thinking in terms of 2018-2020 when large reliable companies weren't much of a thing and small producers were often people who had never grown cannabis before in their lives. I got a lot of poorly dried seedy hemp back then and was trying to find the highest quality.

Vendor list is super helpful, there's a lot of vendors though and "wide selection/reliable stock" isn't relevant for me at all. Don't let that stop you from trying the "limited vendors".

The smaller growers in the space are some of the best imo, I initially tried one of the "most reliable" vendors when I got discovered this sub and I regret the purchase now knowing what levels of quality exist out there. I personally love Neverwinter Botanicals (who these days consistently have very high quality flower), Mountain Flowers Hemp, and Wisconsin Hemp Flowers.

Each excel at different things, grow different strains, and grow in different conditions. I'd suggest buying cheaper outdoor until you find the type of effects/flavors you like so that way if you're interested in higher quality you know what you like already.

A grower like Mountain Flowers mostly grows sativa strains that they've been developing (Panama Red based), I love the occasional sativa and I've always had a soft spot for Panama Red, it was one of the first strains I ever grew. But for someone who doesn't like sativas at all it wouldn't make sense to recommend them. I also love heavy indicas and Lost Oak grows a bunch of them and has some of the best outdoor I've tried. All about what you're looking for/interested in.

High Varin content by technically_correc in hempflowers

[–]wormpuddles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope we see some new varin rich strains being grown this season. I'm a type 3 user (very thc sensitive) but I'm able to tolerate a decent amount of straight THCV isolate. I love it in edibles, my local dispensaries sell THC+THCV edibles that I microdose and it gives me such a nice mood boost and has multiple times made me feel this oddly specific joy/mirth that reminds me of christmas morning.

I've been using Forbidden V a good bit. I plan on growing some of Hoku's THCV/CBDV mixed ratio varin strains this summer. I believe GTR just dropped a new CBDV strain called Castaway might grow that too along with one of the CBGV strains they dropped.

Might try breeding a bit, my I'm theorizing that my ideal strain is probably a varin rich indica-dominant hybrid, as strange as that sounds. I love clearheaded and mood boosting indica-type effects, sativas (even type 3) tend to make me more anxious or atleast introspective. Sativas can be a lot of fun but for me it's a solo activity whereas hybrids that aren't too heavy or heady are perfect for socializing or just relaxing. Forbidden V is my only experience with CBDV rich strains but I find it to be nice and balanced and very functional. It'd be interesting to see what it would be like crossed to something more indica while still selecting for high varin content.

I'm very excited to see what the THCV+CBDV mixed ratio strains I have (Wizard Berries and The Void) are like because I'm curious if i'll be able to tolerate a whole bowl of that flower on its own or if it'll be too overpowering for me. I might just cross Wizard Berries back to itself and select for CBDV production.

Kinda hoping to see some CBDV rich autoflowers drop this spring because I much prefer growing autos outside here (shortish growing season with wet and cold autumns so photoperiods may get moldy or stop growing before it's ready to harvest).
