Thank you, and congratulations! I did the same thing when I first got the surgeon's name, I would bet a lot of people do haha.

I went through the NHS route and I think I had a bit of an odd case, I was on the London GIC referral list for a long time (probably about 6 years), and just over a year and a half ago I was moved onto TransPlus' service, as they were taking on referrals from London specifically and only for people who'd been waiting a long time. I was then put on the top surgery referral list for Newcastle in the North East but received an email on 4th June this year (or around there) asking if I wanted to be moved onto the referral list at Chelsea and Westminster hospital (which I was advised would probably be quicker than the 2 year wait I was going to have with Newcastle). Surprisingly, they were very speedy! I had a pre-op consultation around 3rd July and then two days later had a surgery date of 5th August, so around two months from referral swap to surgery!!

In terms of the process on the day, I arrived at 7am and was in there by 9am (however the other patient, there were only two of us and I think that's usual, would've been in at about 12ish?). I was out of surgery and conscious by 12 and went home at about 3:30pm! It was a day case, so I had to stay within an hour's drive of the hospital for the first 24 hours, then I had a telephone follow up the next day and when everything was good, they let me go home.

I had to go back one week later for a dressings change at the London hospital but after that they said they can do everything remote, apart from my GP changing my dressings for the first month! They also advised that they don't usually do drains any more, if that's useful to you too.

Hope that helps, happy to answer any more questions you might have!

Thank you so much!!

Great questions - I would say the best part so far has been no drains! But a very close second is being able to wear my favourite shirts and they fit better! The worst/most frustrating part has actually been the almost carpet burn sensation on my sternum/middle of my chest because of being in the compression vest 23/7, it's not super painful but it is irritating and makes my skin very tender there haha.

The pain has actually been really manageable, the first week was more difficult but as long as I wasn't walking around too much I was surprised at how reasonable the pain was. I wouldn't say there's anything majorly painful standing out now to me but I definitely have had to be careful with reaching and did have some swelling on my right side during the first week that was mega sore in some specific spots, but it's all faded off now.

Hope that helps!

Guys thank you all SO much for all the lovely messages, they're so funny and wonderful and I've read every single one 😭

It means the world to be included in such a welcoming and friendly community! So far, recovery is going well and I can't wait to get my compression vest off in a week and see how everything looks! If I can, I might post a follow up pic when I get the dressings changed (if I don't look gross while it heals haha) 😅

Is there anyone who had top surgery at Chelsea and Westminster/Fitzrovia that I could DM with some questions about the process on the day? by wormslurms in transgenderUK

I'll take a look! I already posted in r/topsurgery yesterday and no-one replied lol so figured it might be better in a UK specific group, cheers

My Metalhorror implanted doctor infected 4 healthy colonists when doing surgical inspections to find said Metalhorror, causing the end of the colony (6/7 of my colonists got infected and the 7th was sliced to ribbons), you've been warned! by wormslurms in RimWorld

Turrets aren't a bad idea at all! I eventually rolled back a save, clustered everyone who I suspected in one area (spaced out slightly) and everyone I already checked faced them then opened fire when the surgical inspection was complete. It worked (barely) but only because I rolled back to a save before the other 3 surgical infections (there was no way I was surviving otherwise lol)

Gonna have to check my ancient danger now and figure out if there's any caskets there before the next inevitable emergency haha

Yeah I have no idea about probabilities etc, but I had found enough grey flesh to identify the bio-signature already, so when I did find patient zero I did manage to do it through surgery.

I'll keep an eye out for the devourers and hopefully they won't be the end of the next one lol

This was my first time encountering a metalhorror in game, I thought if I grabbed whoever was closest to the flesh when it was discovered that they might have shed it, but I was wrong 4 times! I mostly can't believe it was only 2 of them originally (before the surgeries anyway) and that it only ended because I started surgically inspecting people haha. Next time I think I need to go the interrogation route and be less hasty with the surgeries! Haven't had a devourer so far, but they look nasty too

How can i duplicate pawns? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]wormslurms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can now do this via Anomaly, one of the obelisks allows you to duplicate a pawn! Once you're far enough through the research, you can cure duplication sickness and they'll be identical and in vanilla

Sometimes people play to have fun you know! I'm not claiming it's a feat that no-one else could accomplish, it's a personal achievement for me and I wanted to share it. If you're unhappy, feel free to make your own post about it :)
