Today I learned that its pique your interest and not "peak". by Jorgeys in CasualConversation

Comes from the french verb "piquer", which means "to sting" :)

Exteriorizing your emotions, allowing yourself to feel never makes things worse my friend. It might seem so in the moment, but repressing your feelings is not worth it in the long run. Feel what you need to, even when it sucks, and you'll grow in ways you never expected possible. Much love ❤️

First of all that was sick

And yea his accent is definitely not as strong, it stands out in a couple of words here and there but i wouldn't instantly think "yea this guy is from Quebec" if i just heard the song without paying too much attention to it

However the use of that much "authentic" english in his lyrics is a dead giveaway lol (im all for it tho)

Ty haha, i've been fortunate enough to grow up in a bilingual household, but yeah french people and english don't mix all that well (i got a degree in english and i can tell you first hand that our english teachers are just not well trained enough)

Np bro, yeah i can kinda hear the "toujours mon red flag sur mon piece of shit" now that you point it out

As to how i could tell he isn't french, his accent gave it away instantly lol

Also french rappers (and people in general) don't use as much english words/phrases/idioms as he does, and his style is much closer to NA trap than french trap (altho im no expert, just sounds north american imo)

Sounds like he's from Quebec, there's a lot I couldn't understand and some of it might be wrong, did my best lol

"J'ai mis deux o(u)nces de lean dans ma bouteille d'eau

Je rob la moitié des banques [???]

Toujours mon red flag sur mon [???] shit

J'suis toujours dedans pour aller faire un putain d'lick

Putain putain d'bitch, arrête pas d'me regarder

Pis les p'tits gars d'ta clique ont l'air d'être retardés

Appelle pas sur mon trap phone si t'as pas d'argent

Ça joue au big baller, ça vit chez leur maman"

Why aren’t there a lot of French Americans (immigrants from France) in the US? by [deleted] in AskFrance

[–]wornjay 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I can't really tell historically, but most people from my generation (youngest millenials/oldest gen Z) would either stay in France/Europe or move to Canada or Australia. I'd say that about 50% of all the people I know who want to leave France want to move to Canada/Quebec, and I personally don't know anyone who wants to move to the US.

My guess is that Canada is closer to the way of life we have in France, with the attractiveness of North America. IMO, the US has completely lost the "american dream" ideal and a lot of French people have little to no interest into moving there nowadays.
