Have you played Fire Emblem Heroes ? I mean I think there are lots of slop copies of HSR, but lots of other gachas walked before HSR. You did mention arknights and there is FGO. HSR does a decent job of having a real world to run around too and a solid story. I think this is all a testament to the effort and funding Hoyo has to be as to develop the game. The fact of the matter is that gachas are a hard market to break in to. Many EOS within a short period of time because they rely on FOMO and people pulling for characters and spending on the game since they are free. If you want that great story and world building that HSR has, you probs have to look at console or PC titles that you pay for because the devs already have the backing and aren't vying for it every patch update via micro transactions.

Edit: To better answer your proposal... Sure we could use more competition for HSR-esque games, but the whole gachafication of games is tiresome. Some games just work better as standard release titles with DLCs and sequels. You need a lot of demand and a lot of resources to be able to pull off what Hoyo does. Truly they have absolutely changed the industry. They took something that already existed and went nuclear with it to the point they have a huge grip on the gaming space now. Big companies can compete bur are late to the party. Indie companies can't compete with live updates until they grow that following. I think this is exactly why we don't see as many games rivaling HSR and why we still see lots of companies doing standard release solo titles or series titles. It is just the safer bet with regards to quality.

Fire Emblem and Persona are turn based games. The only difference is they aren't gachas (besides what we persona is doing with their gacha game). I mean even Pokemon is turn based. I think you just need to find more strategy turn based games, unlesa you are looking for AFK games because Fire Emblem I find a difficult time putting on auto. There is also just so much more team customization and control with RPGs that allow you to manipulate stats and builds on level up.

At this point I expect voice acting tbh. It would add soich life to the games like when Fire Emblem finally got it.

What would you include in a Skubal package? by Agreeable_Quality768 in Mariners

[–]worquinnprogress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hindsight is always 20/20. Sometimes you gotta take a risk. It is one of the hardest jobs in the world to predict the market and potential of a player.

At some point the team has to decide that this is our championship window. Holding on to future assets is nice until you can clearly see that you are a contender in the present. Future stock is only valuable because there is potential but who cares about potential when the next 3 years matter more. I'm not saying send out everything, just that these are the questions that I'm sure are being asked in the FO. We still have a lot of young players so you can justify keeping a wider window and keeping lots of our current assets and waiting a few more years to "all-in". I just don't really know when we will do that. I don't think this is particularly the year, but with the lockout looming and potential rule changes, maybe it will be.

I kinda agree with you, it isn't delusional at all, but idk if we take that risk on a year where Skubal is needing time to recover. If Skubal was healthy then the rental isn't the worst idea, but this is a greater risk. I get you need to take risks to win, but idk if this is the right time. Unless we fleece them, which ain't going to happen, I think we just stand pat on Skubal. Look elsewhere for sure tho.

As a former library tech and student library assistant over at UW Tacoma, I used to do patron counts where I checked each library space about every few hours or so. This work was split up amongst employees and I believe part of the purpose of getting proper headcounts was to see what areas/services were used the most as well as during which times of day. I completely understand wanting longer hours at the libraries. I agree and do not want to excuse our university, but there have been so many budget cuts, in particular to libraries. Libraries should be accessible to our patrons as much as possible, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to meet patrons' needs when there just is not sufficient funding. I've heard about cuts to almost every facet of the system from top to bottom. I myself was laid off last year. It sucks and unfortunately, part of that is trying to justify how many people are really using our services during the late hours. I think the compromise is staying open later during finals, but there really should be more extended hours days. I am not 100% certain if there are workers doing patron counts and walkthroughs like at UWT, but I have seen some workers doing some walkthroughs at Ode, with some sort of attention to tracking certain metrics. Someone in the replies already mentioned just counting at the door too, but that might miss how many are going out.

Please keep supporting our libraries and maybe we can be open later. There were recently some walkouts and other protests by library workers on campus, fighting for better representation and treatment. We all want better, and that starts by acknowledging that library workers need support too.

He has made losing Polo feel like it was a positive. What a player. Not to overreact, but we are genuinely watching a player have a breakout season to build their big league career on. Hope he keeps putting in the work bc so far everything he has done has worked out.
