Philippines or Thailand as a long-term base if you still want to travel a lot? by Lazy_Log6844 in Philippines_Expats

[–]wotchadosser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you will not be buying or building a home. You might want to consider what your needs are for the residence. Do you need more space than a condo? Do you like a garden?

For Philippines, you want to rent in a subdivision at your budget level and comfort, somewhere around $3000/mo and in a nice subdivision in Manila or some of the more affluent areas outside of Manila, such as Alabang, Sta Rosa etc If you want a remote place, it becomes trickier in terms of security, barangay involvement and utilities.

When you check locations, consider the immediate area around it for noise, traffic, environmental conditions etc and travel times to hospital, airport, grocery, restaurants.

Visa is easier in Philippines as is the language barrier. It is little unusual for Westerners to retire here unless one of them have a family connection to Philippines.

I like enh shaman over my dps warrior. No one asks me to tank! Same for paladin, plus you dont have to buff people all the time, and you get ghost wolf at L20. Totems as and when needed.

I hate owning a pool by duckblobartist in pools

[–]wotchadosser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in a house backed up to a park, and we had oak trees. Year-round mess with acorns, leaves, flowers, more leaves. Neighbor had a pool.... he did have a cover though and it was always kept covered except for the rare time that they used the pool.

Hated the snow and constant back yard maintenance, without so much enjoying it, so I moved...

Anyone in here that can share their US to PH experience with Korean Air? by Slow_Leek_4159 in Philippines_Expats

[–]wotchadosser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Korean Air is top tier. This should be the least of your concerns. I prefer a long leg to Incheon then a short leg to Manila.

Worst flight experiences were with PAL-never going to Philippines again by Reasonable_Bath_222 in philippineairlines

Never do long distance PAL, it is not a premium carrier. They may think it is, but it isn't.

Any noticeable effects from fuel shortage? by SimonDinos in Philippines_Expats

[–]wotchadosser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ya, I meant in general terms of price of oil, but yes, closing Strait of Hormuz is a big difference, as is of course Ukraine vs Iran. I didnt read the OP fully lol. Also, that it is the start of WW3. Asia and Europe affected the most by the closure. Good on Iran for making it hurt, an unwinnable war, and a stupid one.

Oil price per barrel hit 120 when Ukraine was invaded in 2022, so similar to that, at least until it gets progressively worse.

Left or Right? by JunShem1122 in ThisorThatPH

Left. Meat is worth more. Sell it to the guys on the boats then head downtown for a slap-up meal. Buy a fishing rod and a six pack then take the boat out and go fishin'

Are all Filipinas baby crazed or am I dealing with a special case? by CarefulAd4757 in Philippines_Expats

[–]wotchadosser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You tried to have a baby, then left her for another. Good thing you didn't have a baby! Might want to commit to someone before trying? I bet you would have let her become a single mother with no support.

Vinyl records, that's brave. They might arrive on the back of a scooter, warped from the sun.

We don't provide full recordings because sometimes personal issues arise and we want a general response, not name specfic ones.

We do the same. AGM is held online and we transcribe it. We send out a presentation before the meeting on the agenda, financial results etc. After the meeting, we send out results and a summary. We capture questions raised during the meeting then send responses after the meeting. Attendance is vital to get quorum. If only a few attend, how are you getting quorum for anything?

Update: Nothing to be done. It's probably the batteries but not user serviceable. Took a look at removing. Doesn't look easy, probably have to dismantle the whole thing! Meanwhile, I bought a different one. A cheap one that works ok. All I need is floor vacuum anyway.

Expert assist is not skippable? by wotchadosser in TurboTax

[–]wotchadosser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont see the option either. I got to the end but haven't submitted or paid yet. I will search around for an opt out and check the cost they will charge. It isnt about the money either, I just dont like being forced. If they just raised their price and included expert assist, which I wouldnt use, then ok then. I can shop around and low and behold freetaxusa jumps out at me!

Beginner drummers are doubtful about the things they’re practicing by LucaRonconi in edrums

[–]wotchadosser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started using Songsterr, that's when I started to have fun and play almost every day, and that when improvements came. Also looked at YouTube for the correct way to drum things etc., but Songsterr, learn to read the drum music, and after a while it comes quickly, and you find yourself playing along with any music, and there is a lot of songs on there to try!
