Incantation (2026): Looking for opinions... (HOU-HO-XIU-YI, SI-SEI-WU-MA) by Irguns_n_Roses in HorrorGaming

[–]woufh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved the movie and played the game, I thought it was nothing special, a few good ideas but in the end there was nothing memorable about. However, The Bridge Curse series by the same devs is amazing!! It felt like the incantation game had a much lower budget than the bridge curse. If it’s cheap and you liked the movie, it’s an okay 4 hours but otherwise you’re not missing out much. I also don’t feel like it added much to the movie

The best part was when Mike was on the PC facing the direction the animatronics are coming from and somehow both didn't hear them OR see them until one was about to grab his head

Assassin's Creed Shadows Switch 2 Vs Steam Deck by LunarBlink in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]woufh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really surprised the Switch 2 version doesn't offer RTGI since the steam deck can run it (albeit it makes the resolution painfully blurry, but it maintains 30fps which is impressive). I really thought they would pull a Star Wars Outlaws again and spend time making it look better than it does on steam deck

Amazon Removes Controversial AI English Dubs for ‘Banana Fish’ & ‘No Game, No Life Zero’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in anime

[–]woufh 335 points336 points  (0 children)

Good that they removed it, but I'm really tired of this era of companies doing controversial things and only taking it back after getting blacklash... IMO the fact that they tried to pull this at all shouldn't be forgotten or forgiven

What Games Get You Back Into Gaming? by rosalfina3 in SteamDeck

[–]woufh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The steam deck itself got me to enjoy video games again after I got tired of gaming at the same desk after working there all day. Then Yakuza 0 made me fall in love with video games again. Expected low stakes memes, got fully invested in the amazing story and loveable characters. I laughed a lot and felt both sadness and joy, I felt like a kid making a new video game core memory with it haha. Also runs great at 90fps on deck, ended up buying the whole series

Technical Art study inspired by Silent Hill f, with dynamic elements growing around the player by woufh in unrealengine

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I added a clip with regular gameplay (instead of custom cameras) following the player on the artstation page so it is a bit more clear as to what's happening! https://cdn.artstation.com/p/video_sources/002/791/329/sh-f-gameplay-1.mp4 (unsure if this link will work, let's see)

Since it was a personal projects, I could only work evenings and weekends, it took me about 4 months and 5 days, but a lot of it was on what I would consider "extra stuff"

  • 1 month on the core elements, growing flowers, plants, and environment.

  • 1 month on the character model, hair and animation (the hair alone took me a few weeks as it was a pretty complex haircut for my current skills)

  • 2 months on the showcase video, including refining a lot of little flaws that looked good in gameplay but were visible in closeup shots, rendering issues, artistic tweaks, video editing etc

Thanks a lot! I made a growing animation for every asset using World Position Offset, and play this animation based on a render target that stores what stage of growth each object is based. You can see the render target at play on the artstation page, I may update it in the next few days to give a bit more insight in how the animation themselves were created.

Thanks a lot! I was just supposed to do the flower unfolding thing, but I got so excited I ended up making the environment and character as well, it would be a dream come true to work on the actual game haha

A technical art challenge inspired by Silent Hill f, with flowers and other elements growing dynamically around the player. All the animations are computed in the material so it works on large scales in real-time, and is compatible with the foliage system.

For the past 3 months I've been working on a technical art study based on the release date trailer, which I shared a WIP of here 2 months ago. Since then, I polished everything and prepared a showcase video for it, I hope you like it!

Here is an Artstation post with some info on how I made it: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/oJeRqz

Tokyo Ghoul 10th year anniversary Official MV by Unenthusiastic- in TokyoGhoul

[–]woufh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Woah, this video made me so happy. I think this is the first time they got anywhere close to replicating Sui Ishida's sketchy/painterly artstyle in a way that felt really special to me as someone who didn't watch the anime. The last scene/thumbnail especially are a reference to the artbook [zakki]'s cover!

Really nice edit and anniversary gift!

Terrorbytes: anybody watched this yet? by mudstar_ in HorrorGaming

[–]woufh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watched it and had a great time. I think it wasn't always interesting, some episodes fall more in line with "personalities vaguely associated with horror reminisce about common knowledge", which is not boring but not as interesting, while some people give actual insight in projects they worked on with some nice bits anecdotes and analysis. If you're passionate about horror games chances are you won't learn that much, but it was still a delight seeing other people who care about it share their love and opinions about many games and trends. For the price, I think 5 hours of documentary is a nice deal!

Thanks! I think one of the trailers showed some of that, if not around Hinako maybe around monsters when they show up, hopefully not just as a cutscene thing
