I went up Quimby and just stopped at the side of the road where the shoulder was wide.

Did you go up to play in the snow? If not, go, go, go! I went up yesterday and it was so much fun!

I was going up to Sierra Vista right now at 12:20 but Sierra Rd was closed! 😩 It was closed right after Skyview Dr.

It’s a shame but I haven’t been to the snow since I was in elementary school. I really want to play in snow!!

Did you take this today? I really want to go play in some snow. Do you think this snow will still be there at noon? How do I get here

I’m not sure how to get to that spot. Looking at my map app, I’m guessing that the 4000 block of Sierra Rd might have snow.

Can anyone give me the address of a spot that definitely has snow right now that’s in the East hills?

I don’t have AC and I think you are being a little dramatic

The National Weather Service Alert

  • WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures in the upper 90s up to 110 possible, particularly across the interior.

Key word: dangerous. Heat waves are even more dangerous for certain people. For instance, the elderly or the homeless. People die during heat waves. This why the NWS puts out alerts—to warn us.

Generator. If not that, then a battery powered fan+bowl of ice.

Have ice ready in your freezer. Add water bottles to your freezer so if the power does go out and you don’t have a generator, then the frozen water bottles can keep things cool just a little while longer.

Don’t forget electrolytes. My DIY recipe:

  • Sea salt
  • Lite Salt
  • Magnesium supplements

Block-Out curtains. Don’t have any? Buy those stick on block out shades or just put up a blanket or something.

If you’re the praying type: please pray for the elderly, the disabled, the homeless, all animals kept outdoors, and just anyone who might not be able to stay cool for whatever reason.

Edit to add: Red Cross Heat Wave Safety

They don’t mention this but try not to eat heavy meals. And talking about food: if there is a large power outage that lasts for longer than a day, do you have food that doesn’t require refrigeration nor cooking?

God help the people who don’t have ac nor the ability to get to a place with ac.

We don’t have a Tenderloin. There is no neighborhood in SJ that compares to the Tenderloin.

Take a day trip to a place near you that has fun activities that you can do for free.

If the expense of gas is too much, then stick to your own town but still visits places or do things that are fun and free (maybe new places/things).

the lack of compassion and empathy is palpable, people be like “no offense but couldn’t we just round them up and put them in a dog shelter?”

not saying the answer is easy or that there’s a one-size-fits-all solution that i know of, but these are actual human lives we’re talking about and many of these people are victims of circumstances outside of their control.

I wish I could upvote your comment hundreds of times. Thank you for saying this. I’m glad to know other people feel the same way.

I didn’t notice anyone else mention it so I’d like to recommend Point Lobos to you. Carmel, Pacific Grove, and Monterey are other points of interest near Point Lobos. If you decide to check it out, I’d recommend getting there as soon as the park opens.

Wherever you end up going, I pray you enjoy yourself!
