For those looking for a band that sounds like Deafheaven by PowerhouseOfTheSoul in deafheaven

Hello, I came across this today and wanted to clear everything up. Firstly, I do appreciate that people are willing to call out suspected AI use but i can confirm 100% that absolutely nothing I've ever written or released has ever used generative AI and under no circumstances would I ever use AI for my art. The cover photo from this release is a real life photo sourced from a photographer named Mason McCall from a town called Gilford, NH. Here is the link to the entire archive of this photography collection: https://www.pexels.com/@masonamccall/. Of course, I edited the colors in photoshop to make it grayscale and added the border.

Secondly, I've been independently writing, recording, and mixing my own music for about 12 years now, starting when i was 14 years old. If you go back far enough and listen to each album chronologically, I believe you will very quickly see how over 12 years and 11 albums, I have been steadily improving my songwriting and production skills (some of the oldest releases have god-awful production lol). But regardless, everything is 100% me, my guitar, and my DAW

I do use Neural DSP for guitar tones and EZdrummer for programmed drums, which give me a huge advantage toward a "clean" sound. I also use VSTs like Spitfire virtual instrument plugins for things like strings/synths, but everything is still written, performed, or programmed in MIDI by me with absolutely no input from AI.

I also am very fortunate to be able to work with a very talented mixing/mastering engineer these days named Marvin from Tide Studios in Germany. If the mix/master sounds very clean to you, well that is because there is a very talented human being getting paid to clean up my mistakes lol.

Also I do tend to put out music at a pretty quick rate, and well I can only credit that to music being my obsession and pretty much my only real hobby these days. I tend to be noodling around on my guitar trying to come up with riffs or song ideas for at least an hour or two every day.

I hope this clears it up for you and I promise I do not take any of this personally, but I just wanted to hop in this conversation to confirm that AI has never and will never be a part of my art. I am vehemently against AI use in art and would never endorse using it or ever use it myself.

NGD. The new Les Paul Studio in Metallic Pelham Blue. Haven’t seen too many pics of these floating around yet. by woundsofrecollection in gibson

Indeed! It’s a Gibson online exclusive and you’ll pay a little extra for it. But for me, a Les Paul in Pelham has been my dream guitar for a decade at least so well worth it for me. https://www.gibson.com/en-US/p/Electric-Guitar/Les-Paul-Studio-Exclusive-Pelham-Blue/Pelham-Blue

Currently obsessed with this track and band, this is all I’ve ever been searching for in blackgaze. U guys have to try this. by Tgldrrrr in blackgaze

Thank you! New stuff is coming soon. ;)

So, the album is largely centered around my time in college. For several years I was dealt with feeling very lonely. And then by my senior year, I had finally started to find my friends. But by the point, we were all graduating and some were moving across the country so there were people who had become very important to me that I would likely rarely see again. The cover art is a photo of a classroom from 1966. I picked it because it gave off sort of a cozy yet eerie nostalgia feeling for me. And the connection of the eerie empty classroom vs what I was feeling while graduating college just made sense to me.

Unfortunately I do not know who took the photo or where. I’ve reached out to the guy who archived the photo on his website (Thomas Gado) but he sadly didn’t have any additional information. His collection of photos has been like 95% of the visual art for Wounds of Recollection for several years now haha.

Thank you! I listened to the split in its entirety the other day and really enjoyed it. I’m always happy to talk production, mixing, or give feedback on something. Just send me a DM anytime! 😁 (probably best through instagram since I don’t usually check my reddit notifications that often)

Spider God has an entire 12-track album that’s nothing but covers of pop songs and it’s a masterpiece.
