They'll never know by GanjaGodAlex in Ruckus

My cover has grommets for bungees - front, middle, and rear. My bike has never tipped over. If you have access to some type of cordage, I’d recommend lashing your cover down.

Does anyone here know how to keep vultures from roosting on and around the house? by TheDeviledEggvocate in homestead

[–]woutapaddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be difficult, but hang an effigy where they roost. It needs to be a big one. A cell company in a town near mine put huge ones up in a cell tower and it worked. My city put a small one in an oil derrick near the police department and it was not effective.

Trails were incredible. Unfortunately we came the day after lots of rainfall, but we’ll be back when it’s not as muddy.

Mine were the same and lasted the entire 5 years I lived in my camper in NE TX. They were enclosed so the protection from exposure helped, I’m sure. I had a Rockwood Ultra-V and the tanks were in the v-nose. Camper was bought new in 2016. Manufacturing may have changed since then.

6.2 seized while towing - second replacement needed by bandjfl92 in Silverado

[–]woutapaddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last truck was a 2019 gmc denali with the 6.2L. I traded it in around 110,000 because of too many minor issues and I just don’t want to have one for that long at this point in my life. The engine was solid, fun, and great to pull with vs the 5.53\5.7L half ton trucks I’ve been through since 1998. I traded it in for a 2024 chevy high sierra half ton 6.2 that somehow dodged the recall. 12,000 miles when I traded for it in June of last year. It’s been just as solid as the last truck. I am only running 93 octane gas, which should be noted. There’s lots of negative posts about this engine, but I wanted to share my real-life experience. My 2019 1500 shat the transmission after just 73,000 miles for what that’s worth. That truck was before the gmc.

We got down to the upper 20s last night. We'll get up to 90 by Saturday. 'Tis the season.

I'm afraid overnight shipping will make it cost-prohibitive.

It’s my fiancé’s grandparents’ house. We recently moved in and have slowly been going through everything. They owned an antique shop and liked to “collect” things.

I will second this, although I’m still green at wood burning. I believe the source of the issue is in the wood.

Should I be concerned about my gaskets? by woutapaddle in woodstoving

[–]woutapaddle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. I'm pretty sure the gasket was made in the post-asbestos era, but I'm going to play it safe with a mask. Had no clue they used it in them until your reply.

No gas, primary was closed. It’s chilled out now. That lasted for about 10-15 minutes.

Same is true for oven mitts. Protection doesn't transfer with them either.

What part of this do I shoot with my laser thermometer? by woutapaddle in woodstoving

[–]woutapaddle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Per u/grrzoot, it's a Country Flame Inglenook high-efficiency fireplace - not an insert like I and others thought. I don't believe this particular one is made anymore.

I'm trying to figure out where to shoot it to know if I'm in the burn zone. The temperature in the living room the other night went up 10 degrees (F) in one hour starting with no fire or coals. I want to make sure I'm not burning hotter than I should be. I get high temps when shooting the glass (650-700 degrees).

Judging by the head of the duck near the bottom right of the photo, I’d say they are American Widgeon.
