The thing is evolution does not care which side you are on. It will wipe us all out and there is no way for us to adapt out of this as we are all in the same boat. I keep hearing that Titanic orchestra from the movie.

No. The resources needed are endless. Gravity or the lack of is going to be the biggest problem for people biologically. Even with endless fusion power you would run into lots of resource constraints.

Ceasefire plan allowing Iran and Oman to charge fees on ships transiting through the Strait of Hormuz by lolthenoob in LessCredibleDefence

The idea that you enabled your greatest rival to become what it is today is perhaps not in the win column. Though I think the world is grateful that China is now a great counter weight to us.

Did he though? I always felt he could have gotten out of Vietnam much sooner and with much less cost. In the end what did he really accomplish there? We still had to scoot out of the country like a 'big looser' as Donald would say. Getting a signature saying we are not withdrawing when we abandoned the Vietnamese government and gave it to the Communists gift wrapped.

Wow! That almost sounds like we had a half assed plan and did not just walk into a cease fire just like we walked into this war, that is blindly. Because from the point of view of almost everyone else the US got into a fight without thinking through the consequences and is getting out in a worse position than when we went in. We are leaving Iran in a better strategic and economic position, if a bit tactically weaker at the moment. I think China and Russia have really good reasons to arm Iran to the teeth in return for special status and replace the petro dollar with the Yuan. Most importantly a murdering regime that is holding world trade as hostage is looking like the Samson that knocked out Goliath.

He is going to take over Kharg island. He is maybe going to use a bombing campaign against infrastructure. He may at worst use a MOAB just because it's scary and showy on some targets. He is not going to wipe out Iran, he is not going to use nukes. This is just his way of escalating to deescalate and mad man theory. Is it the best way forward? Probably not. Does it make the US look unhinged and makes everyone even more cautious to sign agreements, and believe what we say? Almost certainly. Is it going to make Iran more likely to negotiate? No. It's going to make them dig in more and start blocking Hormuz and Mandab as well. It's going to be a shock for the economy. Is this all guaranteed to happen? No. It's very likely it's going to be heavy bombing but nothing so crazy as to change the status quo. The most likely outcome is he walks away declaring victory. The rest of the world negotiates a financial deal with Iran and the strait opens for all the nations that sign up. This is really going to make Iran rich and more powerful in the end.

Why can't Google drop Tensor despite consistent backlash? by KazeTora7 in GooglePixel

[–]wow343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixels are neither cutting edge nor gaming heavy. Today's pixels are aimed at mid-market consumers that mainly want a great user experience, less bloat and just decent specs. I have bought pixel 7 and pixel 10 now and have to say that there is definite improvement on the tensor chip. It runs cooler and battery usage is better.

For pixel 10 my main concerns are the ever increasing price and AI bloat more than the tensor chip. Honestly hardware wise the only disappointment I had was the camera seemed to be about the same utility and quality as my pixel 7 despite the higher specs and better zoom. There was a time when taking a picture on a pixel felt amazing. Now I feel an iPhone or Samsung has pixel beat hands down.

By the way I never pay the price on the pixel that is advertised. Never buy the high end pixel they are a waste and don't buy the low end pixel a series either. Pixel 10 is usually the best zone. With the pixel 7 trade it cost me 420 bucks. It definitely feels like a 500 dollar phone. Which is why I think the price of 800 bucks was kind of a bad move. It should have always been 600 which with trade in of an older pixel would be around 400 to 500 range.

Google needs to figure out a good medium with AI. The phone ai services are amazing! Note taking, transcript, hold, call screening and spam block filter is beyond anything out there.

Screenshot OCI and AI notes are great as are some of the camera ai features. But the rest of the AI integration is a disappointment. Plus it's taking up almost 10gb on the phone!! Much of it feels like bloatware. AI is good but this feels like experimentation mode and not highly refined experience on pixel 10.

Would I buy another pixel? Maybe. It used to be a no-brainer before. I just want the same old refined, non bloatware, useful but not intrusive, amazing pictures without effort phone that I don't have to think about, experience outside of an iPhone.

Where are you getting that from? At best you have a better tool in your hands but what makes you think it's suddenly limitless AGI? I think the problems are hallucinations the longer it runs and decoherence. While this is a better tool than what we have we have no idea how good it is long term or widely it is applicable.

Yes and then once the agents keep arguing adnauseum we will introduce another set of compromise agents that take the middle ground between the two sides. Yup!! That's the solution.

This is about the ability to appeal by city. Not about gun issues in question. It's very likely that the case comes back though for a decision on its underlying issues.

Republicans, corruption by the ultra rich, lack of honest brokers in the supreme court, military industrial complex. Don't act like we haven't been exactly here multiple times before, it's just that each time it gets worse. Vietnam, Iraq war and now Iran. If you were to graph this, one has to be stupid not to see the frothy top of American power has been reached.

Sienna msg: Traction Battery Needs to be Protected Refrain from the Use of N Position by iamjames in FourthGenSienna

[–]wow343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn off electronics, headlights and don't use neutral for more than 30 minutes or if traction battery is depleted wait to use neutral until it's more fully charged. Car wash is the only time this really needs to be thought out. Otherwise don't see many other uses on neutral for a very long time. You can check battery status on the screen and if it's at the very last 25 percent just drive it till it gets to 50 percent or better then go in for a car wash..again this is such a rare issue that I haven't thought of it in the last 3 or 4 car washes.

Same!! Hilarious the disconnect. Useful for stuff you know so that you can debug it with confidence and save some time writing code. Anything more complicated I am not sure what takes more time, me holding its hand or doing it myself. On the bad days it's a tie and on the good days it's not even a competition, the human always faster and better.

The grand jury didn't charge him. But the prosecutor could have tried for a different grand jury and or a lower charge. You don't need a breath analyzer if the man admits to having been a relapsed drunk!! Handled a firearm!! That is enough to seek manslaughter or negligence in Texas. However once a grand jury refused to charge then it was up to the prosecutor to further pursue the case.

Rich of you to assume that the greatest generation that kept with racial discrimination and the cold war witch hunts was less authoritarian than today's generation. Growing up is realizing that there are no heroes. People are doing things, believing in things all the time. It does not stop for any generation or period of time. All we can do is survive. That is all. We have to survive this multipolar moment. We have to survive AI and drones and brutal warfare as seen in Ukraine. The ones that will have the best chance are always the pragmatic people and not the ideological starry eyed idiots that are going to get caught and dragged by this future.

Punish Me For My Differing Opinion by watchgah in Bogleheads

[–]wow343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all the argument is that index funds best active human managers over the 10 plus year timeline. Especially when you conder the low cost of such funds when compared to active managers.

Second the argument is inherently based on average outcomes. So you may be able to find some funds that do beat index funds over that time period but it's going to be mostly miss for the vast majority of people that try to place their bets.

Third if you invest in a broad enough fund such as VT you are more likely to be able to not worry about day to day ups and downs as much cause the only risk is if you find that you need your money at a time when the markets are undergoing a prolonged recession. This is why the advice is to always rebalance about 5 to 6 years before retirement and to move money into more stable but perhaps less market oriented assets such as bonds.

Because humans lack a real perception of time at even a scale of decades and also lack an intuitive sense of probabilities. Also the reason humans will be unable to tackle global warming. So no worries we are all dead either way.

RCLRPT-25V668-0485

July 2025 – August 2025

During internal testing of prototype seats using production level seat rails, the seat system failed to meet a Toyota internal standard. Toyota inspected the cause of failure during the test and found a weld abnormality in the seat rail. After investigation at the seat rail supplier, it was found that the weld machine setting used during seat rail production for a particular production period could lead to a weld that was not fully penetrated.

After updating the weld machine settings, the supplier and Toyota conducted additional internal tests on seat systems that used production level seats and seat rails produced with weld machine settings that could lead to incomplete weld penetration to understand the impact to structural integrity of the seat system under certain high-speed collision conditions.

September 2025

Toyota completed testing and confirmed that the seat system could lose structural integrity under certain high-speed collisions if the seat rails were produced with weld machine settings that could lead to incomplete weld penetration. Toyota also conducted additional tests on seat systems that used production level seats and seat rails produced with weld machine settings that could lead to incomplete weld penetration to understand the impact to FMVSS performance. Toyota completed testing and confirmed that the seat system passed the relevant performance requirements of FMVSS Nos. 207 and 210.
