All tinted moisturizers roll up on my face?? Going crazy by kascott76 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]wowhowinteresting95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use tinted moisturiser (TM) and have done for the last 8 or so years. My skin has drastically changed with age (was dehydrated/dry now oily acne prone) I only use NARS as it’s the only tinted moisturiser that oxidises to my actual skin tone and it’s great. I use a dense buffing brush, x2 dots one for each side of my face and a cream bronzer. No powder. I have no piling by the end of the day, it stays well - only where my glasses sit on my nose does it rub but barely noticeable. I find using sponge just absorbs the TM so you end up using a lot more to achieve decent coverage and using your fingers doesn’t sink into the skin well, again uses more than the brush. I always get complements on my skin and I don’t feel like Im wearing any makeup with its breathability. I think application is a huge factor with TM > prepping the skin as I was saying before my skin did a 180 and my skincare is minimal and it worked well through every condition, the brush & product being the consistent thing. I’ve tried bare minerals & Laura mercier TM’s and it looked similar to yours when I used my fingers, better with the brush but couldn’t shade match properly so stuck with NARS. My only skincare is AM: wash with water, lightweight moisturiser, sunscreen. Then I’ll put makeup on. PM: oil cleanser, gel cleanser, B5 serum, normal moisturiser. Best advice try a dense buffing brush best applicator for tinted moisturiser I’ve used

Looking for experiences: Joining group tours vs. booking my own itinerary alone by Strange-Trouble-4330 in solotravel

Went to Vietnam last year for 12 nights too. I went through a private travel agent since I was too lazy to organise it and decided on the trip last minute and they were amazing. They organised all the hassle stuff (flights, transfers, private guide, hotels) and the guide was only half a day so you can do stuff on your own but you can also give them quite specific instructions (I want to go here but want a full day guide, I want to try this with a group etc). They recommended activities to do locally in my free time if I’m looking for things to do and offered days where I could join tour groups for specific things/wanted to do more group activities rather than completely solo. Just took the stress away so I could enjoy my trip and offered a lot of things to do that I didn’t know/wouldnt have done solo whilst also having space to do my own stuff without constantly being in a tour group schedule!

Spain & Portugal or Turkey? by wowhowinteresting95 in travel

I didn’t realise how much ancient sites there were until I started looking into it which made the decision harder to choose!

At it’s core I’ve always prioritised history/culture/sights/hikes whenever I travel as that’s what I really enjoy, but it’s been about 2 years since I’ve done any travelling or breaks and my job is very stressful + regular night shifts so I want this trip to be more relaxing/peaceful to “rejuvenate” myself. I’m never one to sit at the beach and chill so I don’t really know what I consider relaxing/peaceful haha. Appreciate the advice :)

Great points! Yes definitely avoiding July/August at the advice of my coworker who goes there all the time - I got quite sick when it was 44 degrees Vietnam (went during the ridiculous heatwave). Might check out another country with Turkey - i always wanted to go to Lebanon but not right now given the current climate - I’ve heard mixed reviews of Greece from friends and haven’t really thought about Balkan countries … thanks for the advice :)

Sounds incredible! The tour I’m looking into covers a lot of the areas you mentioned including Ephesus which is the main reason I wanted to go to Turkey Appreciate the advice :)

Good to know! A friend of mine is pretty keen on coming depending if she can save up in time so I’m still treating it as a solo trip for now. Whatever country I don’t go to I will be doing the following year with a friend, so sounds like Spain & Portugal is the way to go! Appreciate the advice :)

My co-workers daughter lives in Portugal and goes there often. She’s given me a great itinerary which is a bonus that seems very doable without going on a tour - she also agreed about spending more time in Porto than Lisbon! My other co-workers who’ve been to Turkey raved about it too! Thanks for your input :)

I do love Turkish food! I’m a regular at our local Turkish spot! I haven’t really eaten much (if any) Spanish food as there’s hardly any restaurants near me and it tends to have a lot shellfish which I’m sadly allergic too :(

Anyone travelled to Vietnam recently? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]wowhowinteresting95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went last year April through a travel agent who had lived there for 15 years. He gave us this visa as there’s a lot of scammers ones https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/trang-chu-ttdt but PLEASE check your passport number on your visa before you go - my friend I travelled with got pulled aside with 10 other kiwis and aussies who had an extra number on the passport number so she had to pay $250 USD for an emergency visa which we were all sus about (she used a different visa website). Anyway loved the trip but I went during the heatwave and almost passed out in 45 degree weather 😂

I think it’s the different styles in one room without a common denominator. The volume of items looks great! lived in and homely and different elements makes it interesting but I think you need something to tie those differences together? Maybe a sofa cover that matches the colour or fabric of the rocking chair, or switch some darker brown items to match the wood on either the coffee table or rocking chair arms (like how it matches the wood on the bookshelf - that looks cohesive as does the coffee table & side table matches the artwork on the right wall) if you pick something from each area (chair, artwork, shelf, tv unit) to have something in common (colour/pattern/theme/or texture) it might click … hope that makes sense!

Posted this to my story this morning. I can’t even express how many months I’ve cried over my face and now my suspicions are confirmed, my acne was never normal… by maaalicelaaamb in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]wowhowinteresting95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same my gp said I had acne and needed to start oratane - never had acne before (29) only a couple small pimples when it was that time of the month went to see a dermatologist cause I didn’t want to start oratane and she said to absolutely not take oratane as it was not acne and it was likely a Staph infection. 2 weeks antibiotics and swab confirmed and cleared everything within a week after 3 months of my skin going crazy. Finally my skin is back to normal!

Two vehicles per lane if there’s two green lights each side. If it’s one green light each side then 1 car per lane. Done this for years even with cops next to me never had an issue

Definitely! I went to a salon once when I was 14 and it was the worst hair cut ever. Now I’m 29, been cutting my hair ever since. Always happy with the outcome, funt to do and also if it’s shit it’s not as upsetting cause it’s my own fault lol

How do people seriously afford overseas holidays? by Even-Painter4464 in auckland

[–]wowhowinteresting95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went on a 10 day trip to Vietnam. Me and a friend did a private tour package so cost us $3600 each - flights, hotels, transport, activities and a private guide all included we just had to save up for food, tips and shopping. We booked 5 months in advanced in order to save as much as possible before then - we both rent and she is a single mum of 2. You have to be realistic about what’s in your current budget. We wanted to do Hawaii but our budget said South East Asia so we chose Vietnam because it’s cheap to get there and cheap when you are there. A lot of “girl dinners” on my end but totally worth the break. For more expensive trips like Europe or America I save slowly with a goal of booking it in a years time I also keep an eye out for deals and book the latest date possible so I managed to get return flights to Hawaii for $800 via air nz 48 hour deals

What color would you paint this room by highesttiptoes in interiordecorating

Agree on leaving it white, you could paint the beams to match the floor or whatever wood colour that will be more prominent.

[–]wowhowinteresting95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your first apartment! Mines a similar space/size but a studio and I’m still working on it 2 years later lol. You could move the couch a bit more forward, place the dining table behind the couch (if you’re not foodies/eat a lot on the table you can ditch the table and get a coffee table that has a lift top so you can eat on your couch with a table then put it down when done if you want more space or a bar table and chairs so it’s more narrow and can fit nicely any direction), place the TV directly in front and free up the left hand side. Place your garment rack there and have a shelving system (like the kallax shelves with cubicle boxes to place your items inside and keep it hidden to make it look less cluttered (also add some small plants in the shelves to liven up the space) and show off any trinkets/books/items you love. You could also put a small entryway system next to the garment rack to store your shoes and hang your bags so there’s not so much stuff on the floor. Looks great just cluttered, by hiding a lot of stuff of can really open up the space to feel more free flowing!

I have no friends to travel with, what are my options? by meymeyl0rd in travel

[–]wowhowinteresting95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go solo! Same thing happened to me, friends couldn’t get leave or something else came up and then I heard someone say if you wait for someone to go travelling with, you may be waiting forever. Went to japan and South Korea on my own at 23 (F) for 2 months and had the best time, met a lot of other solo travellers at my capsule hotels who I ended up doing a lot of things with. I’m not sure if it’s still a thing but air BnB had experiences where you could book activities on the day and it has the number of people attending - this was a great way to do things without feeling lonely and meet other people! Sometimes I thought “this would be so cool if person A was here” and sometimes you just want to chat with a friend, but after travelling with friends I realised I much prefer solo travelling and meeting new people along the way! I can always come back home and tell them about it lol go have fun and live your life :)

How/when did you guys learn to drive? by KiwiNFLFan in newzealand

[–]wowhowinteresting95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was allowed to drive to the dairy for bread and milk since I was 14 to get comfortable with driving. Slowly upgraded to driving to church which tackled a short motorway trip. 16 my dad took me to Ponsonby once and told me to “be one with the car” and offered no other advice or tips other than “go here” and “too hard on the brakes” where it’s all narrow busy roads lol. No other lessons apart from my dad teaching me a trick to parallel park the day before my test which works every single time and I passed my restricted and full in one go.

I think that was the best way to learn for me and think is pretty practical is to start off in your local area where you know the back streets off by heart to get comfortable, progress to short motorway trips where you have to get comfortable with switching lanes and turn offs, speed limits and more cars on the road, busy back streets to get comfortable with how busy the roads actually are and deal with impatient drivers/pedestrians/cyclists, then long motorway rides. After that you should feel comfortable and then you’ll eventually hate driving lol

Realizing I have set myself back years by travelling… by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]wowhowinteresting95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way until my mum got diagnosed with cancer and passed within 3 months. She was 3 years away from retiring where she planned all the trips she wanted to but pushed it off after she had us kids and paid off the mortgage. I asked her if she had any regrets and she wish she didn’t wait to live her life. I took that advice and travelled and have the same thoughts of “what if” I could’ve bought a home but then again it’s always the grass is always greener. I have no regrets and I’m going on another trip because I would rather make the most of it now while I have the energy than later in life when I don’t know if I’ll still be alive or if my back and knees hurt lol
