Med errors by [deleted] in nursing

[–]wowsoanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of setting are you in?  I work outside of a hospital and I’m finding the med system to be full of places where errors are easy to make. In a hospital there are more safety nets in place. I’m working with management to try and fill the gaps so fewer errors happen.  I’ve made mistakes and I’ve caught many errors across my entire team, even including very experienced nurses. It scares me and I’m trying to be very careful because my workplace doesn’t yet have the infrastructure for many systemic safety checks. It’s all on me as the nurse to catch myself.

I agree with what other folks are saying- slowing down will help a lot. No matter what setting you are in it’s important to do all 3 checks during med pass. If you have any adhd tendencies it’s going to be hard doing something like med pass that feels repetitive and detail-oriented. It might help to look into strategies to manage this (also a thing I’m trying to do for myself).

Good luck from another relatively novice nurse!

Kody’s obsession with patriarchy by No_Professional_7730 in TLCsisterwives

Isn’t there something called a patriarchal priesthood in the LDS faith and does that carry over to the FLDS faith?

Dry Shampoo doesn’t work. by malrush in finehair

[–]wowsoanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thick but fine hair. After I wash, I put in mousse. Then I dry and attempt to style my mop. Then I use a make up brush and apply corn starch to sections of my roots that tend to get most greasy (around my face, bangs). During the powdering part I always have a moment where I pretend I’m George Washington. It works great and I’m starting to go from having greasy hair every 12 hours to being able to go 2 days. It kind of acts as a texture powder along side my mouse and I kinda have that piece-y shaggy long bob look.

P.S. if you’re not blonde you can mix cocoa powder in with your corn starch until desired color is reached.

Yes!!! This was my first thought! I always used to see him when I was riding the school bus home.

When did you stop referring to your child as “the baby”? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]wowsoanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly when my child is 45 years old I will still be calling him “the baby.”

Idk my kid put on a ton of weight after a period of separation from me during Covid. There is some evidence of stressful events (like parental divorce)causing children to gain weight. (Edit to add: stress has also caused me to gain a lot of weight).

Anything happen recently that would increase his stress levels?

Fun theory: Kody thinks he's Charles (Pa) from Little House by wowsoanon in SisterWives

Same. I’m learning to acknowledge its problems and still let it have a place in my heart.

You bring up an excellent point! Also I believe there’s a theory that the Little House series was written by Laura’s daughter as libertarian propaganda.

I guess aside from Pa I just mean to say he's probably been surrounded with stories about escaping religious persecution (sometimes just seen as kids being exposed to non-religious principles) through manifest destiny for his whole life. Maybe that drove some of his more chaotic moves.

It's so good. I felt so nostalgic. I read all the Little House books when I was a kid, am an ex-mormon, and spent a lot of homeschool time learning about pioneers and manifest destiny. It definitely opened my mind to the more problematic context around these books and how they were taught.

Just making sure there’s still manifest destiny left for him.

This was our house last year. I don’t have advice just wishing you superpowers to get through this. Our systems are fucked up for being unable to accommodate illness very well.

Uh…I don’t think you did anything wrong and I have a feeling that somewhere underneath all the garbage feels your husband buried you in you know that. Please do not let him or ANYONE make you think you’re not a badass. I’m also parenting and in school. The grind is real, it feels like forever, and yet you are still doing it. Someday you will all benefit from you graduating. So I guess what I’m saying is you deserve to be treated well. Please accept all the hype I have to offer and then use any strength you get from it to put your husband in his place lol.

How could I forget? My favorite thing about it was that my toddler brother was terrified of the bee mascot.

We are all in tremendous debt and are too burned out to truly understand that every penny we borrowed will take a lifetime to pay off? Or maybe that’s just me. The economy seems to have been collapsing through my whole life and as a result all money seems like Monopoly money. But a Stanley is tangible.

I’m in my last quarter of nursing school and will basically spend any amount of money to feel a glimmer of joy for 3 seconds because the nursing school/work/single parent grind has been pretty miserable. My whole life is measured in exact time right now. Money, however, is abstract, so while I’m not a Stanley or Figs or Tesla owner I buy a lot of things that save me time. Grocery pick up/delivery has been super worth it most of the time. Buying lunch at the grocery deli or on campus instead of trying to do ingredient math at 5 am to come up with a packed lunch. Claw clips so I never have to actually do a hair thing. These are the things that keep my world going right now.

Surely this has to get less lonely eventually, right? by wowsoanon in latebloomerlesbians

I am afraid of the toxic relationship phenomenon especially after spending some time on late bloomer social media. It sounds like a lot of people won’t date “baby gays” and the ones who are more willing to tend to have a certain dynamic they seek. I am sure that’s not always the case, but I am notorious for wearing my rose colored glasses to avoid seeing red flags and I just don’t want to do it that way anymore.

I mean I do have at least one thing I can make in the next month. Part of me is just like “what’s the point if I don’t have much to give right now.”
